The constitution, Europe, external affairs and culture committee is currently carrying out a short, focused inquiry on the outcome of the census with the remit “to focus on the quality of the data collected, identifying any gaps and how they could be filled”.
You know, it’s almost as if they were told about the enormous gaping hole in their data collection this self-ID Census would mean. Between everything around the England & Wales Census last year + the For Women Scotland court case trying to get them to see sense… But no.
Can you imagine having to explain “oh yes, that was the year the Scottish government decided it didn’t need accurate information about its population & to privilege the feelings of ‘a minority group’ over the entire country’s need for education, healthcare, & indeed infrastructure & services of literally all kinds”? 🤦♀️
