A long article in the Mail about the Change of Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act 2021, which is being enforced by what seems to be the equivalent to our EHRC. It's deeply concerning to read - including the threat of children being taken into care if their parents don't affirm them:

Utterly insane. Literally batshit crazy. All because of the holy sanctity of gender identity which barely existed 15 years ago. Religious nonsense. One day all those who have pushed this sexist twaddle will be held accountable.

I used to live in Melbourne and most of Aussies had highly-honed bullshit detectors as a default setting.

It's the only way to enforce a belief like this - to threaten and coerce parents in supporting the future infertility, repeated surgery and a lifetime of medication for their children. The instinct to protect our children is deep, so threatening to remove them is likely to be the only way to get parental acquiescence for this?
So frightening.

Jesus. I hope this gets turned around quickly when they see what the Cass report in this country has uncovered.

In the meantime, what's the betting that Susie Green and all the higher-ups at Stonewall don't decamp to Melbourne.

One parent even found text messages from a counsellor to her daughter advising the child to leave home so she could escape her sceptical parents and freely pursue her newly-found wish to transition to being a boy.

Do the people pushing this believe that people can actually change sex? Because a girl can't 'transition to being a boy', she can only transition to being a transboy.

Why is becoming a medical patient for life who will be infertile and sexually impaired seen as a better outcome than coming to terms with the body they have? What is going on in the minds of people like this counsellor?

It is, as a PP has said, quite literally insane.

Not just the ideology, but the fact that they aren't even acknowledging, or seem completely unaware of, these girls' absolute dread over becoming women.

The porn soaked society which expects girls to engage in humiliating sexual practices that they don't want, and many of which are downright dangerous, should be giving them pause for thought.

But noooo, let's cut their breasts off.

Horrific. We came so close to having that kind of legislation here - and we are still not out of the woods. How on earth can people seriously think that it is acceptable to medically sterilise troubled children? Those counsellors are appalling.

From the very small amount of understanding I've gleaned on Twitter, there are a few utter whack jobs at the forefront of this in Aus.

It's terrifying the degree to which they'll stop at nothing to get their way.

Cannot understand why a kid's conception of one aspect of their identity, which is fluid and subjective, is being treated as inalienable holy gospel by these ghouls.

How many of us adults feel and believe exactly the same way we did as children? No-one should be fast-tracked into being a lifelong medical patient for an identity.

Majority of my friends and family still have finely honed bull shit detectors. Most have no idea about this. Rare cases here and there, but most the kid’s schools among my family and friends kids have no where near the issues my child’s high schools in NSW & QLD. They were absolutely incredulous to hear about it.

It is hard to know how broad the law is. It seems to be saying if your child wants to take hormones and if I try to talk to her and explore other issues it be considered conversion therapy.

This exactly why there was a pause on including trans gender in the Conversion Therapy bill : because much needed counselling and psychotherapy for children - who are very likely to have experienced trauma, sexual abuse, be in care, autistic, or experiencing internalised homophobia and who may be thinking they are trans because of that - will be denied such help in case it is seen as ‘conversion therapy’.

instead they would be sent for a damaging and possibly irreversible pathway of puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and quite possibly surgery.

As as country it is behaving very negligently towards its own people.

That’s a strong article at least.

I don't understand how the U.K. is waking up to gender ideology while other places seem to be doubling down.

In Victoria under 18# can't drink or get a tattoo or even a piercing in an intimate area but can consent to irreversible damage to their body and infertility? How does that make sense?

In this instance though, I think some bills that have passed through parliament have been influenced by a Animal Justice Party MP called Meddick. Who has two trans adult children, one is this person :

(I don’t know if more has been found out about the incident above but seemed like Meddick’s adult child was caught tagging at night, passerby objected to graphiti’ing and Meddick Jnr threw spray can, passerby picked up said spray can and threw it back and hit tagger on head. Meddick MP declared it was a transphobic attack. Australian PM gave support before clarification came through. Happy to be corrected)

It will be quite interesting to see the outcome of the election later this year.
