TRAs protest at women's rugby training

www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2022/08/11/trans-activists-crash-england-womens-twickenham-training-session/

TRAs turned up on the training session at Twickenham to express "heartbreak" over rugby's new gender (sic) restrictions.

One of the protesters, 46 -year-old Emily Hamilton, was among 15 protestors waving pink and blue flags and claimed top names in the sport were privately supportive of her cause.

"I'm a Harlequins fan, a transwoman and an ex-player of 18 seasons, but as of last week I'm prohibted from playing rugby now" said the founding co-chair of the QuinsPride supporters group.

No you're not sunshine - you are just prohibited from playing with women. No one is stopping you playing with your own sex.

"It's a heartbreaking situation," the protester added.

Well, boo hoo.

Apparently they are going to go staging protests. "We will not be going away until our voices are heard."

Your voices have been heard, loud and clear and a ban is the result.

There's a picture of the 46 year old here www.shropshirestar.com/sport/uk-sports/2022/08/11/were-not-freaks--transgender-activists-protest-against-disgraceful-rugby-ban/

All they can talk about is their feelings, they have nothing else with which to try and convince people to let them play.

She's a bit long in the tooth for rugby 🙄

I was shocked that my sister who is involved in the medical side of sports, particularly rugby, retweeted a women's rugby club who were against the ban. The club claims that TW aren't a threat any more than the various female players they know who are 5'11" and 22 stone or whatever.

My sister is really knowledgeable about sports injuries and things like the recent guidance and focus on concussions/head injuries, but is very much a "be kind" person. I on the other hand know fuck all about sports and related injuries (plus I'm a grumpy anti-social twat) so it's not something I can easily debate with her which is frustrating. I just keep sharing my GC stuff in the hope she'll read it and the veil will be lifted.

Does she follow Ross Tucker on Twitter?

Tucker points out that you need to compare (say) a 90th percentile woman against a 90th percentile man to get a proper comparison - and the man will be significantly taller, heavier, have more lean muscle mass, stronger bones, be faster etc and will create more force as he will have greater mass and acceleration.

Tucker also points out that median mass for women is equivalent to the lightest 2% of males. And 98th percentile for women is the male median.

KittenKong · 13/08/2022 09:07

Get them all kitted out and into a mens team training session.

oh gee so male bodies do have an advantage?

TheKeatingFive · 13/08/2022 09:10

FGS this is ridiculous. What a bunch of self entitled fucks.

In the Twitter discussion about the Irish rugby “ban” there are lots of TRAs claiming that TW simply cannot play with men because not only would it be outing them, it would be endangering them because of their reduced testosterone. Indeed there are people arguing that the very fact TW would be grievously imperilled should they attempt to play against men because their testosterone is lower proves this is all an evil transphobic plot & not about safety at all.

As @DarkDayforMN so succinctly said on another thread, if the only way for these men to play rugby is to make women uncomfortable and unsafe, then fuck that shit.

And she's right that the self entitled arrogance knows no bounds.

Women's rugby doesn't exist to be re-fashioned and sacrificed in order that a handful of men can feel better about themselves - because they've taken drugs to render them a bit weaker than other men, in order to feel better about themselves.

Jesus. The entitlement can be seen from space.

Reducing their testosterone to the bottom of the male range endangers them when they play against fellow males, but their testosterone being 4 times higher than the maximum in females does not endanger females when these males play against them.

TheKeatingFive · 13/08/2022 09:52

Its simply that they don't care. Woman's safety isn't even on their radar.

JellySaurus · 13/08/2022 10:01

More evidence that this is a movement of entitlement, not of genuine need.

PermanentTemporary · 13/08/2022 10:04

Maybe they'd like to organise a touch rugby women*'s side. This is perfectly legitimate under the rules and as long as everyone understands what's going on, I think it has the potential to be popular.

Touch rugby would still be a completely different game for women if played mixed sex rather than single sex. I agree that a mixed sex team sport could be a good option here, but mustn't replace single sex options. If mixed sex teams are allowed then there should also be regulation of how to balance such teams between the two sexes, which still requires being able to classify players by sex.

Your sister has internalised misogyny and is willing to put men's feelings before women's lives.

Which just shows they don't really 'feel like' women, as they couldn't give a shit about us.

Charley50 · 13/08/2022 10:29

The only good thing about this whole mess is that it provides so many up-to-date examples of irony, for when asked for a definition.

Deliriumoftheendless · 12/08/2022 19:43

Or maybe they should welcome them into the men’s rugby with open arms.

wouldn’t that be kind? And really, why shouldn’t they?

They already are welcome, but that doesn’t suit them.

Let’s not pretend that anyone other than the trans themselves are in the wrong here.

Women's Rights*

Idk literally trampling over women seems a fair and reasonable description of their demands.

What about other voices?

Ah, I momentarily forgot, their voices are the only ones that should matter.

Their voices were heard but fortunately the facts and science won the day.

This annoys me, they are absolutely not banned from playing. They are able to play on the mens team, but they'd rather get special dispensation to play with and against women. They couldn't give a flying fuck how those women feel about it all, harder tackles, taking spots, dicks in their changing rooms.

Absolutely this. Thank God this nightmare appears to be coming to an end.

BoredofthisCrap7 · 14/08/2022 01:11

What a pity the TRAs don't harness all of that energy and effort, and start organising trans leagues if that's what they want (but it's not....)

Science won out on this one, sorry if that is "heartbreaking" for you.
But better that than "woman's neck breaking".

Also, you know, you could just play in your own sex category WHICH YOU ARE NOT banned from.

This nonsense should never have been allowed from day one.
It's like letting an insolent child get away with something time and time again and then finally telling them "NO".

They get very angry, stamp their feet and throw a tantrum. Maybe hold their breath.
They should have been told "NO" in the first place.

VestofAbsurdity · 14/08/2022 01:15

They should have been told "NO" in the first place.

Absolutely they should it's ridiculous that they weren't.

Ratonastick · 14/08/2022 07:56

ResisterRex · 12/08/2022 19:48

Well we can't have male hearts broken! Best snap women's necks instead Hmm

This! Fucking this! I have had a tediously earnest conversation with a 20something in my team at work about female sport (relevant to my professional life) and I am stealing this line to short circuit the next attempt at justification.

MrsTimRiggins · 14/08/2022 08:06

Heartbroken. Give me strength. I couldn’t be happier that male bodies are being excluded from the womens rugby teams. It’s beyond dangerous to allow it and purely to placate male egos, something women, unfortunately, are far too familiar with.
If the price of living as your ‘true and authentic’ self is to stop playing rugby (or indeed to play with the mens team…), I’d say that would be worth it.

justasking111 · 14/08/2022 09:15

I have one DS who's had four operations on his foot metatarsals to try to improve it. He's lame now at 30. Another son has a titanium plate in his jaw university rugby game. I'm glad third son never wanted to play. For male bodies to play against women is just insane.

Dreikanter · 14/08/2022 09:50

I was at uni with someone who had broken his neck in an under 18s game. He switched to refereeing because he was unable to continue playing.
