How do I respond to transphobic questions asked by 5th grade student?

This is a link to a Reddit sub. Students in the fifth grade in the U.S. are typically 10 or 11 years old.

Well done that girl! No wonder the teacher struggled to answer her questions.

Gosh. Those comments.

"You know that boys are boys and girls are girls without checking their parts"

Well yes. So she knows that the student in question is a boy.

Depressing answers. Especially the one who said just tell her that the world is full of strange people and you don't have to understand your classmate, who is violating your boundaries. But you do have to be nice to them.

Nope.

And stay away from kids.

She asked some really smart questions, no wonder the teacher couldn't answer her.

The first answer suggests that the questioning girl might have ADHD, like ‘oh, she must be neurodiverse to have such thoughts’. Or maybe, just maybe, she sees the world like it is?

People who dislike clever children should not teach. That poor wee girl.

Betting it’s not the full picture we’re getting from her teacher either: would love to hear the parents’ (who I don’t imagine for a moment coached their daughter to ask “awkward” questions) side; or indeed what the 10/11 (at this point in the year almost certainly the former) year old has to say.

As for the replies… such rank ignorance is almost impressive. I don’t know about trans people giving themselves UTIs if they can’t use the bathrooms they want - but girls absolutely end up with UTIs from not using the loo at school. UTIs in boys & men are far less common because of their longer urethras - & mercifully 5th Graders, even ones who haven’t transitioned days/weeks ago, won’t have had so-called “bottom surgery”. This is quite literally “give us what we want or we will hurt ourselves” - no question of negotiation or accepting an alternative: access must be granted; the needs of others subordinated; & there can be no discussion of the harms caused.

So a teacher is distressed she couldn't answer basic questions that she herself spoke in such a way she raised them?

Shes upset cos she cant brainwash a child clearly smarter than she is.

She doesn't belong in a classroom.she is abusing her power. She's not there to indoctrinate shes there to teach.

It felt a bit scripted to me, to be honest.
