Last time I saw a Smurthwaite interview she was ‘bragging’ about having several boyfriends. She just strikes me as a cringy, trying-to-be-down-with-the-kids type, like Natasha Devon.

I find it baffling that women pointing out that in order to protect and fight for women’s rights, you need to actually define what is a woman is apparently the downfall of feminism

When you lose your temper, you’ve lost the argument and boy, did she lose her temper. I’ve not come across her before and have no idea who she is. However, her massive and arrogant tantrum didn’t impress at all. Apparently she’s a comedian lacking a sense of humour.

Yes, spot on! In fact, I believe she dates multiple 'people' at once coz she's extra edgy you see. Good god, she was an utter cringe fest in this interview. Truly mortifying. She's getting her ass handed to her on Twitter too

Disappointing. Kate was at Filia in 2019, I haven’t followed her so don’t know if she has been cancelled / lost work. As KJK says though, how can you fight against male violence but not address rapists in women prisons.

It was cheering to see someone else’s home with cluttered kitchen work surfaces, especially after the parade of artfully curated backdrops during the pandemic. Kate needs to work out how to use the photo backdrop if she’s going on telly.

Kelly Jay wins at knowing when to hold her tongue and let her opponent make a tit of them self.

She's always like that, though, as far as I've seen her in interviews - intense and non-stop talking / talking over any opposing point of view. Don't know about boyfriends.
Have seen her on those debating sort of programmes they used to have on the BBC on Sunday mornings with Nicky Campbell where they discuss things like religion or moral or contentious issues of the day.

I can see that Kate was furious about being - my words here not hers - brought into a live discussion that she had already told the researchers she would not have.

Tbh, given the channel, that's the point at which Kate should have said No to the researchers' request to appear on a live show with DW and KJKM.

Oh dear. Not a good look from Kate. A shame as I used to attend her Fringe shows regularly, and she's usually bang on the money about most feminist issues. Now she seems more concerned about money (what was all that stuff about raising the fee to be asked a slightly difficult question??), and the flouncing is just embarrassing. She has a real blind spot here and it's sad to see.

Would she call JKR an extremist, I wonder?

I've seen Smurthwaite on a few shows over the years. She's not great.

If you can dig up an old Come Dine with Me episode that Smurthwaite and her boyfriend took part in, you will see the real measure of how S treats people. She was very condescending towards her partner and rather horrid to the young glam (essex-style) woman contestant. Very full of herself. I knew about and respected Smurthwaite for her forthright views on free speech long before the incident at Goldsmiths but after some time, the unpleasantness of her character seeps through.

Why did KS do an interview with KJK if she was so adamant that she did not want to discuss the trans thing? Surely she knows who KJK is, and that it would come up?

Kellie-Jay is absolutely brilliant at keeping her cool, and just looking amused as everyone loses their shit around her, it happened in that Harrop interview as well. She hardly has to even speak, because everything she does actually say is so on point. I don't always agree with absolutely everything she says, but on the basics of this issue, no one can touch her, because they have no argument against her and she is able to bring someone down with just a few words.

To be fair to Smurth, Kelly Jay want STRAIGHT to the trans debate, and Smurth had apparently made it clear that she wouldn't talk about that, so she felt that a trap had been laid for her. If she knew that Kelly Jay was on, she should have expected this though. I wonder whether KJ's language is too grown up for some of the audience. Eg the use of the word "caveat".

That's made me want to watch the Harrop and KJ interview again...
