BBC News ignores LGB Alliance AND Stonewall over Monkeypox vaccine..
8

CompleteGinasaur · 05/08/2022 10:03

Just that, really. The news item covers how 'LGBT groups demand more action on monkeypox' without citing the LGB alliance's much earlier attempts to call for action or the way they were pilloried in some circles as transphobic for their foresight. More interestingly, the article cites no opinion from Stonewall (does cite the Terrence Higgins Trust and representatives of LGBT groups of the main political parties). As Stonewall would have been first port of call for any reporter (let alone this one!) covering an LGBT interest story, I find the omission very interesting...

(And sorry, technodunce, so can't link it!)

The persistent mis-labelling of everything as LGBT obscures the actual people affected by different issues.

It is gay men, bisexual men, and transwomen who have sex with men that are at highest risk of monkey pox. Not some amorphous, generic LGBT identity blob.

There has been a lot of inaction and reluctance in providing clear public health messages to these demographics which has only served to endanger their health even further.
LGB Alliance rightly called for early and swift action but as usual, the 'LGBT community' prefers to harm its own people because it's more fun harassing an organisation that stands up for same-sex attraction.

I'd expect Terence Higgins to lead something like this. It's a little surprising that SW isn't a letter signatory.

Quite. It is not 'LGBT' who are at risk but men who have sex with men. But then didn't we have a poster not long ago telling us that TW who had sex with other men were somehow not at risk because magic transdust mean they had the same risk as women ?

Well exactly, NonnyMouse1337. It's absolutely predictable that the BBC (and particularly, this reporter, Josh Parry, who seems, along with Lauren Moss, to be their new Ben Huntes) will ignore or deride any contribution that LGB Alliance will make to a debate. Up until now, however, any story about any of the rainbow alphabet would be guaranteed to have Stonewall's mark all over it, in the form of some sententious bullshit setting out the approved party line. The absence of this struck me as possibly a significant change in the weather?

what when Bailey stated most of the LGB Alliance are straight? What did she say 7% are lesbians, the rest straight allies? Yep....totally a LGBT queer lobby group! Makes you laugh.

You can click here to see a list who funds and gives grants and Stonewall

www.stonewall.org.uk/get-involved/get-involved-fundraise-us/grant-funding

The list includes The National Lottery, Goldman Sachs, The Scottish Government and others.

Hmm... Straight allies anyone?
