if I were anything to do with the company that owns Mr Men I’d disassociate from Mermaids ASAP, and get the lawyers to have a word.

But if they did & Sanrio has consented to their use by such an incredibly dodgy organisation, it is worth knowing.

Unlikely. I worked with people who sold copyright companies (I remember them doing a sale of a cartoon character) and the brand value was fiercely protected (because it’s not the value of the company physical assets - brand value is more tricky to work out because a fair bit is about image/fashion/tie ins etc) we were talking companies that are worth millions. I can’t imagine people selling Rolf Harris merchandise would be doing much trade these days - but back in the 70s didn’t we all have one of those annoying electronic musical things with his signature on them?

Sully the brand and boom, value drops.
