Bit of a difference in reporting and outcome here compared to rapes and sexual assaults by trans women 🤔

Enormous difference in how they treat women who identify as men compared to men who identify as women. What is this 'you persuaded them you were male'?

I don't see the feeling and struggles of the perpetrator, along with the suspended sentence in this article.

CrossStichQueen · 28/07/2022 13:50

Male or female prison I wonder?

MingeofDeath · 28/07/2022 14:06

I don't think transmen are allowed to be put in a men's prison. Please would someone correct me if I am wrong

ScrollingLeaves · 28/07/2022 14:09

This transman was absolutely horrible. It is sad to think of all those poor women he manipulated and treated so abhorrently. Once again, the police seem not to have listened. It is so extraordinary that it’s hard to believe, but they should have tried to step in earlier.

Did you know this has been on another thread, Chuff? ( I think the title mentions ‘pronouns’ - the poster thought the Daily Mail had been willing to misgender the transman even though they never had done this with transwomen before. In fact this seemed not to be the case.)

Thanks Scrolling, I had a quick scan and didn't see anything about it. I'll have a look now

That's what I was wondering 😕

I think there's one transman in Scotland in the male estate and is insisting on staying there.

Fenlandia · 28/07/2022 15:11

Yet our friends over at Stonewall have campaigned against sex-by-deception laws, in the name of trans privacy (never mind the rights of people thinking they're sleeping with one sex and not the other) (www.stonewall.org.uk/system/files/a_vision_for_change.pdf )

Yes, at least the sex by deception laws are still going strong.

10 years, that's quite a sentence and deservedly so.

However, the point made by Cailleach1 bears repeating loudly - the differences in how men who identify as women are treated is stark.

From Stonewall's doc linked above:

SEX BY DECEPTION
Recent ‘sex by deception’ cases involving trans people and gender identity issues have revealed an alarming lack of
clarity around trans people’s rights and obligations to disclose or not disclose their trans history to their sexual partners.
These cases demonstrate that it is possible for non-disclosure of a person’s trans status to impair the validity of consent.
This leaves a great many trans individuals at risk of prosecution for a criminal offence. It is, however, still unclear as to
whether the courts regard this to be the case for a trans person who has undergone medical transition, and it is further
greyed by whether or not an individual can be defined as trans, based on their appearance, by the court. Clarity is
urgently needed.

What Stonewall seem to have no concept of is common human decency.

Addressing Singh in the dock Judge Del Fabbro told him: 'You deceived them. Instead of opening up a frank and honest discussion about your gender and about who you really want to be, you chose a different path instead.

'With them you chose a path of deceit. You persuaded them that you were male, whether it was biological or through the transition process.'

KatVonlabonk · 29/07/2022 13:38

Stonewall would have seen this rapist walk free.
