Now we're all going to have more time on our hands, what hobbies do you fancy?

(Lighthearted)

With so many recent victories to celebrate eg

  1. Women's rugby and swimming
  2. Allison's case
  3. Maya's case
  4. The government's commitment to the Spousal Exit Clause
  5. End to plans for Self ID
  6. Todays great news about the care of trans identifying young people

What hobbies do we all fancy now we're going to have a bit more time on our hands? I've always fancied having a go at calligraphy.

I'd also like to breed labradors but realistically don't have the room.

Well done vipers. We did this FlowersGinGlitterball

Whilst the above is fantastic, we really need to highlight the plight of female prisoners who are locked up in mixed sex prisons. After that I’m after a green house & some seed cultivation.

What do you fancy growing?

I get this and I think I'm overawed by the amount of work that remains to be done.

Shall I indulge in the MN cliché of the hobby being so niche that it would be outing to reveal it?

doodlywoodlydingdong · 28/07/2022 13:52

I ate that a huge amount of work is still to be done BUT I'm looking at learning stained glass art as a reward for sticking to my GC guns for the last 6 years.

MisgenderedPaul · 28/07/2022 13:52

I am still looking at Sarah who is suing Brighton’s Rape Crisis Centre Survivors’ Network, hoping this goes well.

That would be lovely.

It's always cycling

I must admit (although I love dogs too) that I'd go for cats. Surrounded by fluffy plump kittens.

I think that the current onslaught on the rights of women and girls (under the pretend label 'progressive') shows we can never take our eye off the ball again.

I think you're right, and the world's Labrador population will remain lower as a result but it doesn't hurt to dream.

Oh and I missed Penny Mordaunt off my list of recent victories.

My dream is that one day I might be able to read 'Vogue' again without having to flip past the Paris Lees articles.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/07/2022 14:42

I am going to eventually spend more time on creative writing and less time on formal communications with Government Departments pointing out they have misstated the Equality Act 2010 again.

Maybe you could get a job at Pink News?

Love this thread. Still a lot to be done in Scotland sadly. And another case to watch is that of James Esses.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 28/07/2022 15:37

I have garden, an actual garden which has a lot of potential but is currently sadly neglected. I have ideas of rescue chickens too…

Also I think I’d like to join a choir.🤔

RandomlyThrownTogether · 28/07/2022 15:54

Planning to sort out my photos. Get them all printed off and put into albums.

Also maybe patchwork quilts.

RandomlyThrownTogether · 28/07/2022 15:56

Maybe a series of books for children, particularly girls, on how to fucking organise and overthrow and make waves!

RandomlyThrownTogether · 28/07/2022 15:56

Well, I enjoyed my retirement while it lasted from 15:54 to 15:56.

ChateauMargaux · 28/07/2022 15:59

I think some goverment organisations, schools, universities, sports organisations and companies will take some time to change direction. The war is not over.

I did discover the wonderful art of Annette Messager and her collection of embroidered misogynistic french sayings .. maybe I will take up needlework!

Musomama1 · 28/07/2022 16:03

Brilliant news but the Church of England is still debating gender ideology so I'm still very twitchy.

Thinking of what will be taught in faith schools and how it'll be impossible to challenge it as a parent.

Calligraphy is very relaxing though.

ArabellaScott · 28/07/2022 16:05

Hello. I've been on a vigil. Did I miss anything?

Has JK Rowling said something transphobic at last? <hopeful>

I was thinking of launching a line of citronella candles to keep the midges off.

MaudeYoung · 28/07/2022 16:24

My darling Tinsel, you are just fabulous! Much love, sister.

DameHelena · 28/07/2022 16:28

I say this as someone who in the real world can't even keep mint alive, but I'd love to grow slightly obscure herbs. Purslane, lovage, feverfew, betony...

BTW, scuse my ignorance but has there been an end to plans for Self ID? I've missed that!

rabbitwoman · 28/07/2022 16:33

I have gained literally 100s of new followers on twitter from engaging in this debate. I am really looking forward to getting back to bants, postibg pictures of goats, second hand jewellery and what I had for dinner.

Do not, for the love of God, grow lovage.

It literally takes over everything and then all you have until the end of time is lovage.
