Lobby the RFU and WRFU

Though I live in Wales I'm not much of a rugby fan, but I'm told by someone who is that on Friday there's going to be a vote to decide whether TWs can compete in the women's game. Apparently the RFU and WRFU have been inundated by TRAs demanding that men are permitted to play with women and it's started to rattle some of those who are fence-sitting.

So please, Tweet @ RFU and @ WRFU: just remove the spaces.

Key issues are safety and fairness. If you are in a position to explain the differences in biology and development it can only help.

Anyone?

WildIris · 26/07/2022 18:49

Thanks Pluvia, will do so.

I grew up in SA, so a huge rugby fan. Fucking outrageous that they are even contemplating allowing biological males in women’s rugby!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/07/2022 18:53

It shows the significant power of the trans bullies if rugby officials are scared of recognising facts and science and are even considering sacrificing women's safety in order to appease them doesn't it?

ScrollingLeaves · 26/07/2022 18:59

I thought it was already dangerous enough for men playing against men. I can’t think how they could even contemplate this.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/07/2022 19:29

I'll send emails tonight.

I thought this had been settled.Angry

RoyalCorgi · 26/07/2022 19:30

I was going to say that RFU had already made a decision, but I was wrong - RFU have simply decided to hold a vote, which as the OP correctly says, is on Friday:
www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jul/22/rfu-to-vote-on-banning-transgender-women-from-womens-rugby

Do we know who gets to vote? The RFU's recommendations are to keep the women's game single-sex, so the thing to do, if possible, would be to target the voting members.

OldFashionedWoman · 26/07/2022 19:31

Looks like Brian Moore is on our team. 💐

MaudeYoung · 26/07/2022 19:34

I think you'll find that lawyers and insurance companies will influence the decision for RFU and WRFU.

Lawyers will have advised about the horrendous potential of litigation risk in case of injury and insurance companies will have advised that premiums will go through the roof if men are able to play against women. The position of World Rugby has made this plain.

Really? I’ll be very pleased if he is! For someone who is usually so direct & sure of his views he’s wombled around on
the fence about this for quite a while

Olderbadger1 · 26/07/2022 19:47

I heard similar reports OP - apparently, and despite all the evidence, the activists' onslaught has been such that the vote is in the balance. And if ERU fall, the rest will no doubt follow. Because chaps innit.

and/or comment directly to @ RFU / @ EnglandRugby / @ WelshRugbyUnion / @ ScotlandTeam

Seems that the idiots siding with the pro men in women's sport crowd are not necessarily on twitter. So emails are especially useful: [email protected] and [email protected]

Sunfriedegg · 26/07/2022 20:13

I’ve emailed, but not sure if both those email address worked, I only got a confirmation email from one of them

Rainbowshit · 26/07/2022 20:40

Done.

Thebritisharecoming · 26/07/2022 21:01

Done and dh is doing it too.

Pluvia · 26/07/2022 21:18

Thank you all. I think a lot of people thought the decision had already been taken and so the TRAs have got in there while we were congratulating ourselves that it was a victory.

The RFU Council members vote on this. The people who Will Carling refer to as 'old farts in blazers'

If you are a member of a rugby club find out who your council member is and lobby them. No point emailing the RFU / WRU.

2Rebecca · 26/07/2022 21:46

emails sent

Circumferences · 26/07/2022 21:58

I've sent an email but not sure what good it will do seeing as it's being put to a membership vote and we can't send an email to the members.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 26/07/2022 22:21

Is the vote anonymous? I can’t imagine they could win an anonymous vote.

IcakethereforeIam · 26/07/2022 23:09

Sent, barely literate and probably misspelled but sent.
