According to a tweet today from Martin Callanan, who is a minister in BEIS, they have stopped funding Stonewall for any of their arm's length bodies (ALBs - a bit like quangos but a slightly wider definition):

"Delighted to announce that all BEIS ALB’s have now followed Department’s lead and stopped funding stonewall. BEIS is now a Stonewall free zone."

It's not gone down well with Jamie Wallis, the trans MP

Oh my - the responses to Jamie Wallis - that's them told Grin

AlisonDonut · 23/07/2022 18:06

That is awesome.

I wonder if Stonewall wanting to get their hands on 2 year olds earlier today tipped the balance.

NotDonna · 23/07/2022 18:08

@AlisonDonut please explain

IcakethereforeIam · 23/07/2022 18:12

James Wallis, never seen a Stonewall he didn't want to drive into!

Fenlandia · 23/07/2022 18:13

Yes it was an interesting thing to see tweeted on a summer Saturday afternoon by a minster (I checked him out on gov.uk and the feed looks authentic).

I really hope the Sunday papers pick up on the wider Stonewall bonkersness and help focus a few more government minds

@AlisonDonut please explain

NotDonna, it's this tweet which has attracted thousands of negative comments, quite rightly mobile.twitter.com/stonewalluk/status/1550427949819695104

Again, Stonewall confirming my decision to support candidates who oppose them and their dangerous nonsense. Two year olds, FFS.

Sunfriedegg · 23/07/2022 20:38

Excellent news

achillestoes · 23/07/2022 20:40

Wallis needs to flee the scene of that tweet.

Conflictedunicorn · 23/07/2022 20:43

achillestoes · 23/07/2022 20:40

Wallis needs to flee the scene of that tweet.

In stilettos? He’s shown he can’t drive in them, but maybe he can rin in them, clutching his Pearl necklace as he goes.

IcakethereforeIam · 23/07/2022 20:46

Totally read that as 'rim in them'Confused

Conflictedunicorn · 23/07/2022 20:49

Sorry. Ooops. Bad typo there. 😂😂

Conflictedunicorn · 23/07/2022 21:02

The bloke who cited John Money as a source as to why 2 year olds know their gender is having a bit of a rough evening….

VestofAbsurdity · 23/07/2022 21:03

Those responses to Jamie Wallis are pulling no punches, very harsh but fair.

achillestoes · 23/07/2022 21:08

Wallis got nothing but support and kindness from the Tory party even though his own conduct was far from what it should have been. He should be ashamed of using this to launch attacks on his own side.

Birdsweepsin · 23/07/2022 21:54

More trouble at'Sturnwall

Conflictedunicorn · 23/07/2022 21:59

Bet they’re regretting that tweet now. Sheldon must be fuming!

PearlClutch · 23/07/2022 22:34

Good. Keep going. Get this dodgy lobbying company out of government.

IcakethereforeIam · 23/07/2022 22:38

I'm quietly going to assume Sheldon identifies as an outlet mall.

Sheldons sad he missed out on a position worth £195k cos someone let the work experience kid loose with the stonewall Twitter account

IcakethereforeIam · 23/07/2022 23:33

My heart's bleeding for Sheldon, his discounted towel bales and his slight seconds Yankee candles, thoughts and prayers.

FemaleAndLearning · 24/07/2022 00:18

This great news BEIS. I've been waiting to hear this confirmation. The problem is on the EDI side BEIS organisations have access to another Stonewall type called Inclusive Employers that is just as bad on the gender identity side. They totally misrepresent the Maya outcomes.

IcakethereforeIam · 24/07/2022 00:40

It's a fucking hydra!

Apollo442 · 24/07/2022 00:42

Just looked at the Inclusive Employers website. Misrepresents Maya's case and tells employers to ignore the updated EHRC guidance. So yes, just as bad as Stonewall.
