Listening to Moneybox and they have an upcoming programme on money issues for Trans and NB people. Any suggestions on the special issues that they may be discussing? I'm baffled myself...

Maybe applying for loans etc with official ID that doesn't match their 'identity'?

Call centre staff making assumptions about a person's sex based on their voice?

How hard it is to save up for killer heels necessary medical expenses?

Or being misgendered by your debit card.

I understand now. There are pressing issues of vital importance to discuss.

I have no objection to trans and non binary people having their own discussions about their own issues, and I expect the same courtesy and provision for women and girls.

I think that programme will be worth a listen.

I know it was mentioned before rmw our lovely friend got a bank to change policies I think because they misgendered pronoun.
This is frankly quite scary. Banks need procedures in place to protect the vulnerable from impersonators.
I say this as someone who went with my mum to the bank yesterday. She goes in every week to get money out but not with me usually anymore. Some history re family but they didn’t let her withdraw any yesterday. I am slightly offended, and it wasn’t a big amount she wanted to withdraw, but she doesn’t remember her PIN number, but at least I can see they are trying to protect the vulnerable.

Maybe it’s about life insurance and pensions.

It’s not possible to identify in and out of actuarial statistics, sex-based mortality and accident data, and current pension ages.

Maybe self ID isn’t legal - so pensions could be a problem.

It’s it’s a case of people complaining that they have to prove they ‘were’ John Smith and are now ‘Mary Brown’ (with or without legal documentation) and that means admitting that yes, when they took out the pension they were John, then I have to roll my eyes and mutter to myself about first world problems.

What to spend your money on when you've bored all your friends rigid about your "status" and they don't return your messages.
How to budget the inevitable pay cut that you need to validate being a woman.

Radio 4 (I used to love it) continues to lose the plot it seems...I often switch off mid-programme these days. Actually I just say 'Alexa stop' no knobs involved.

Pension ages are now the same for men and women.

And since December 2012, it's not permitted to have different life insurance rates for men and women, despite the sex-based mortality and health data.

Too many knobs involved, that's the problem these days
