Endless sexes

So this has been bothering me, does it bother anyone else also? It seems incredibly hypocritical and insulting.

Typically, XY is male sex chromosomes, and XX is female sex chromosome.

However, there’s a bunch of sex chromosome abnormalities that are medical disorders. They come inherent with health problems, like infertility, learning disabilities, muscle atrophy, weak bones, etc. These are men and women, males and females who have had abnormal sex chromosome expression. Ex. Turner’s Syndrome, Klinefelter Syndrome, and so on. SYNDROME, not a sex!

BUT trans and allies keep trying to argue that these are an endless array of sexes, and they assign sex to these individuals. They’re less than male or female, according to them. They’re other.

But that’s what they accuse others of doing to them! So they’re doing it to people with health problems? How is that not hypocrisy of the highest order, and also disability hate speech and discrimination?

It bothers me as a disabled person (no sex chromosome disorder though), and bc it’s such a crap thing to do to these people. And hypocritical and just plain bad science. The few papers that claim this are extremely fringe nonsense, one is written by a school teacher as the “expert”.

People with a DSD are still one sex or the other. XXY for example is a DSD that affects only males.

They are not different sexes, or mixtures of the two sexes.

It’s possible in theory that it can be so difficult to work out which sex someone has developed as that it makes little sense to label them, but in general any embryo heading down that route is not viable.

It has nothing at all to do with Trans, who are pretty much all the standard XX and XY.

The argument just doesn't work. If these other sexes existed or of sex really was a spectrum then dsds wouldn't be dsds would they thus erasing the very people they are using to make the argument.

Most dsds are sex specific anyway. So again it just doesn't work as an argument.

Plus you cannot compare a verifiable testable condition to something that cannot be proven to exist. No blood tests no brain scans etc show anything.

If you have a non-sex chromosome disorder, maybe you're a new species?

Certainly someone with Downs Syndrome can't be human, by this classification mechanism. Totally wrong chromosome configuration.

Although I imagine it might be hard with some disorders to figure out whether they lead to a new sex or a new species. Or maybe they could lead to both at once? A topic for future research in this promising area...

I'm sure this is a silly question, but- how is it decided which DSD is which sex? If XX is female, and XY is male... are all the male disorders ones with at least one Y, and the female ones with only Xs?

Sex refers to which gametes you develop towards support for. XXY develop towards production of sperm.

I general becoming male is triggered by a small section on the Y chromosome, called the SRY. It’s possible for that to be omitted or non-functional on the Y, which could produce an XY female, or for it to attach to the X, which would give rise to an XX female.

And then insisting that trans women are "just like black women, a subset of woman," therefore implying that white woman is the "ideal."

Whole thing is v insulting.

It is insulting, but we are the ones being unkind, exclusive, mean etc. The irony is outstanding

On the subject, I have heard people say that there are infinite genders but never infinite sexes. I'm not sure that trans people and their allies keep trying to argue this to be honest ...

They do. Sex is a spectrum, apparently. They use people with VSD as reasons why TWAW and should be allowed in female spaces. They insult people with VSD by claiming they are nor male or female but some strange 3rd sex that no one can define, also that everyone with a VSDis trans. They do know how to insult huge groups of people

The tweeter is an Associate Professor - of developmental biology! - at the University of Minnesota Morris - https://academics.morris.umn.edu/paul-myers. Yes, you read that right - a professor of BIOLOGY.

This he/him biologist claims that the seven distinct sexes of horses are - colt, filly, mare, broodmare, gelding, stallion, freemartin. (As was pointed out to him, they are male, female, female, female, male, male, female - two sexes.) So steeped in the dogma is he/him that he actually claimed this car crash is fact.

As a disabled person, how do you feel about their 'born in the wrong body' claim?

Wow, they need to fire him bc he clearly does not have a grasp on basic biology. You geld a male horse and it's chromosomes, and every other non-changeable physical sex attribute somehow transforms. Can it get pregnant too?!

Personally, it doesn't bother me as much. I mean, it would be nice to be healthy bodied, and it feels like priveledge to take their health for granted, but people smoke, do drugs, and other health destroying behavior so I guess I'm kind of desensitized to it.

I can't imagine obsessing over sex and gender to the extent that they do, I think they create their own perceived problems. I hardly ever think about myself in terms of woman/female, but as me/human. I must be non-binary! (Sarcasm intended.)

TRAs are on the Let Clothes Be Clothes FB page having their arses handed to them about this very topic.
It always seems to come up. They tell us gender and sex aren’t the same thing. Ok, we agree.
Then they try to imply that there are loads of sexes so gender must therefore be real.

But aren't XX sry+ classified as male? (for legal purposes?). I'm aware that they'd be missing other aspects of the Y chromosome that would contribute to typical male development, so I don't know if they would develop fully male characteristics, be fertile, etc.

I realise this has absolutely nothing to do with trans issues, nor the fact that there are only two sexes. I'm just interested in the genetics.

This is clearly nonsense but I don't think it's a mainstream view. Hopefully it won't ever be one!
