I find this subtle change in language used in the BBC reporting of Jamie Wallis's crash interesting.
"He identifies as he/him", rather than 'He uses he/him pronouns'.
The user of a pronoun is the person who is using them to refer to someone in speech. The only pronouns that JW uses to refer to himself are I/me.
Have the BBC finally recognised that the terminology 'uses' in this context emphasises the compelled quality of language around trans people?
