Anyone Else Watch Sky News Just Now? Tom Tugendhat and Grant Shapps Interviewed

Tom Tugendhat basically stuttered through his start saying all the be kind words, followed by a bit of support for single sex spaces but qualified with more be kind words.

Grant Shapps was horrific. Made it clear he has no interest in the issue, doesn’t understand why this American issue has somehow ended up over here and wants nothing to do with it. Utterly dismissive.

I have NO problem with anyone wanting to centre the economy in their bid, but Shapps was awful.Simply awful.

Problem is, it’s not enough to know that a woman is an “adult human female” - our expectations have been lowered by years of gaslighting. Let’s not accept scraps.

I’m happy for people to be able to identify as they want. I’ll defend their right to do so and I won’t harass anyone. But people can’t change sex and some situations are rightly restricted to one sex.

Gary Lineker never said one single word about women's sport then retweeted Ben Cohen's retweet of Grant Shapps no less .He can get lost. Ben Cohen lecturing women on culture wars. Get in the very deep sea.

'And that doesn't mean in any way that transwomen have any less respect, or any fewer rights'

Do you think single sex spaces should be protected?

SSS are important and should be protected, but how they are protected is incredibly important. What we need is to have a clean start on this debate
^^
The 'This is why we have to move on' statement is leaving me cold. Why the need for a 'clean start' on the debate and a new one? He goes on to talk about respecting individual dignity, as if previous debates have not.

Also this getting back to 'issues that affect everyday people' erm, are women not everyday people?

Don't trust him on this issue at all.

Gary thinks everyone should shut up about divisive things, like women’s rights, refugees and Brexit.

No, wait. Just women’s rights.

Also, women must not choose their preferred leadership candidate based on this issue. That would be to ignore all the important issues, like the cost of living. Pink News and the TRAs can choose their candidate based on this issue, because it’s very very important.

Andrew Neil just called Shapps ‘nobody’s victory parade’.

Ouch.

Yes agree Tom T has to make his position as clear as Rishi’s (and Boris’s). Even Penny M has been clearer in her recent tweets.

As PP points out re: JKR retweets there are good reasons to believe he gets it. But he needs to be clear.

Isn't Penny M being accused of lying by a Whitehall civil servant about those recent tweets?
