They know. They so know.

TWAW is losing support everywhere.

The whole issue is right up there at the top of the bloody agenda. And who knows if it's genuine, or just hitching a ride on the zeitgeist bus.

At this point, I'm just glad it's front and centre stage.

Well done you women !

achillestoes · 09/07/2022 21:16

Very good. Now a case of which candidates we can’t rely on. Mordaunt. Shapps?

HermioneWeasley · 09/07/2022 21:17

He was my preferred candidate before this, but this is a great development

Rightsraptor · 09/07/2022 21:18

Rishi looking good.

Rightsraptor · 09/07/2022 21:19

Mind you I wouldn't describe Labour as 'vacillating' over women's rights. I'd describe them as abandoning women's rights.

Zone2NorthLondon · 09/07/2022 21:20

For me, it’s not a compelling enough reason to vote for a Tory, a man tainted by years in govt under Boris Johnson. I think it’s insincere and Tory austerity harmed women and families

LunchPoems · 09/07/2022 21:20

Great to see

Sexnotgender · 09/07/2022 21:22

They know which way the wind is blowing.

CucumberCool · 09/07/2022 21:26

@Zone2NorthLondon I agree with you. Isn't this the same tactic they always use and that's why they are always in power? Does it really mean they will change their minds anyway....?

Is sad though as I do feel politically homeless and genuinely worried for my daughter's future

Cuck00soup · 09/07/2022 21:29

I thought earlier when I read Kemi Badenoch's piece in the Times that I could see her joining Rishi. This seems to add weight to that theory, but at this point, who knows.

CuriousCatfish · 09/07/2022 21:32

They know how to get the votes. I never believe a word they say though.

BreadInCaptivity · 09/07/2022 21:33

They know. They so know.

Absolutely this and whatever your politics this is good news.

They know this is an issue that will impact some womens voting choices (and presumably think it's a significant number) - whether that is to switch who they vote for or not vote at all.

If the Tory's know it so do Labour.

CuriousCatfish · 09/07/2022 21:35

All they know is how to get votes...

I’m happy they now think this how to get the votes

Zone2NorthLondon · 09/07/2022 21:37

Agree with both @CuriousCatfish and @PrettyPlatapus
tories will say anything to get into power, they’re insincere grifters who’ll say what it takes to secure a win. Their austerity policies have chipped away at women and families.

It’s a shame Labour don’t do the same with votes from women

good news op

achillestoes · 09/07/2022 21:38

This is exactly how to get my vote.

Great isn’t it

I’m really pleased for everyone who kept at it despite insults etc

Musomama1 · 09/07/2022 21:40

Well, let's say that Rishi really does prioritise this, we have two years of strengthening women's rights and dismantling some of the damage already done before the next general election.

Hey, I'm glad somebody is listening... although I have a slight concern this seems a little like this year's Brexit, as in single-issue to attract voters. Mind you, they did make good with Brexit...

He's campaigning for the Conservative Party leadership, though. How would it be possible to vote for someone for that who is NOT "a Tory"?

Then you are deluded if you think getting votes means anything at all apart from getting votes.

Rishi Sunak only became an MP in 2015 so he has only been in parliament 7 years. He was not really around for Cameron austerity and was popular mainly because of generous furlough terms during the pandemic. He is arguably a bit young and inexperienced but hardly as tainted as everyone else as he was elsewhere.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 09/07/2022 21:43

There’s a useful Twitter thread here on which Tory leadership candidates know what a woman is. twitter.com/owenjhurcum/status/1545432149595226114?s=21&t=RHCrP0RT-yeFTmvsfTEeqw

Zone2NorthLondon · 09/07/2022 21:45

I’m genuinely astonished posters are so positive and thinking of voting tory
don’t trust the Tories, ideologically that are anti union, misrepresent the public sector, and have enforced austerity upon people. Plus, I don’t agree with brexit and oh I’m a republican with Irish family. So on balance…it’s a big no from me. I’m not fooled by platitudes about women rights, don’t trust them

LunchPoems · 09/07/2022 21:54

I don’t trust the Tories. I don’t trust any politician.

i am pleased that this is now perceived to be a vote winner.

Times are changing. This is good.
