Today I pottered round the Sparkle Weekend in Manchester ('the world’s largest free-to-attend celebration of gender diversity, and a safe space for anyone who identifies as gender non-conforming, their families, friends, and allies').
It was quite an experience, and I'm still processing what I felt about it all. I think the first two things that struck me:
• The sparklies in their frocks were significantly older than I expected. I expected average age of about 20. It was more like 60.
• Shit, that's the biggest wig stall I've ever seen.
