I think this seems a fair solution to the sex differences and sport, to me, anyway

It certainly eliminates the " trans people banned from sports " angle tras attempt to take.

Here's an open category knock yourself out.

This is where it will become very clear that given the opportunity to compete , is not enough. It never was.

Am I right in thinking that there is only an open category and a women's category?

I am not convinced to be honest. But I would need to understand more.

But if HRT reduces the performance of TW then they can't effectively compete in the men's category.

I would have preferred a separate category.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/07/2022 09:28

If its ok for women to take the hit and compete with males who have a much higher testosterone level than any women then whys it not ok fir transwomen to compete with men/males with a higher level than them?

And why should we care about that when males don't care about the women.

Taste if their own medicine frankly. Much deserved

‘But if HRT reduces the performance of TW then they can't effectively compete in the men's category.’

That’s a consequence of their own decision-making.

TheCurrywurstPrion · 08/07/2022 09:35

I would have preferred a separate category.

There would be wailing and gnashing of teeth if you offered it. Perhaps, if we enforce female only properly, transactivists will eventually get the message and realise that a separate category is fair and reasonable, but until that’s what they are asking for, offering it is probably pointless and will result in accusations of segregation and “othering”.

TheCurrywurstPrion · 08/07/2022 09:39

”But if HRT reduces the performance of TW then they can't effectively compete in the men's category.’”

Female athletes have to make difficult decisions about delaying pregnancy and so on, until their short time at the top is past. Other athletes have to make decisions about banned medications that might alleviate medical conditions. If these men want to compete and cross-sex hormones will prevent them from top performance, then they have to decide between sport and transitioning. Transitioning is a choice, no matter how much activists insist it isn’t.

Whatwouldscullydo · 08/07/2022 09:48

Of course it's a choice. I mean you can be a full on muscle bound beard 6ft 6 Transwomen all the tras and organisations say so.

No ones going to be assuming the gender of all the males in the changing rooms are they? Cos that would be transphobic. And as women can look like that then the set up is still perfectly validating right?

ThinkingaboutLangClegosaurus · 08/07/2022 12:13

Women’s and Open seems a good solution. If transwomen refuse to take part in the Open category, their real motivation will be very clear.

Would be great if other sports follow suit
