Ricky Gervais sharing Mr Menno on FB

Sorry if there is already a thread about this...
I am so surprised to see Ricky Gervais has shared a video of Mr Menno where he speaks about the issues with gender ideology on Facebook.

The comment section is alive with so many people speaking out, I have never seen this on Facebook before, I find many people are too scared to say what they think and its usually full of people shouting others down and calling them bigots if few dare to speak.
(There are few but they are being successfully challenged.)

People seem to be feeling braver..

First Mr Menno video I’ve watched, my husband watched it when I played it.

I’ll admit it pisses me off that DH was probably more likely to watch a video by a man quoting other men even though he’d deny it but it got the point across (DH is on board with feminist view but doesn’t read or watch anything on this)

Video got the point across DH commented that Nish sounded unhinged and high. Shame we both used to find Nish funny.

That's a great video. He is so calm and measured. And I know it's annoying that men are more likely to listen to other men, but I cherish our male allies as there are so few of them.

Nish Kumar sounds deranged and completely unfunny.

pathetic. I'm brown, I think Nish Kumar is an idiot. I've followed Menno for a couple of years, I think I'd have noticed if he was a racist, so I was surprised by the accusation.

Menno attempted a 'funny' by dressing as a black pamper. Unfortunately it looked like blackface. It was insensitive.

Some people think it racist- which I'd agree with if it happened again.

Did he put black make up on, Justin Trudeau style, and pretend to be a black person? Or did he put on clothes that resembled a tighter version of those of the TRA protesters - including balaclava, not make up - and pop a nappy over the top, by way of a pastiche of a TRA protester's garb and behaviour? Which part of his acting at the protest made people think he was acting like a black person? Do you think that's how black people act? If so, isn't that a bit racist? Are TRAs racist for their choice of black clothing and balaclavas? Are black wetsuits racist? Black leggings, black running gear, black burkinis, Catwoman? Us non whites need to know the truth about how we are being oppressed by sportswear.

An apology would be welcomed, but so far zip.

He wore a skin suit, in black. That's not the same as black joggers and hoody. It's not the same as a black wet suit for water sports.

I don't think it was racist, I'm explaining the reference to a PP.
I can see why some people did see it as racist.

That doesn't mean we dismiss everything he says.

He was dressing up as one of the 'black pampers' that hassled Posie, hence the nappy.

Me Menno makes tons of videos, all the time, and is fully alive to all the issues. No one genuinely thinks he was in black face.

Although, Ricky Gervais tweeting his video, is understandably making other people want to discredit him, of course.

At this stage it's more notable that he hasn't acknowleged/apologised for what many, many people plainly see anyway - instead he releases a video criticising an Asian comedian.

He is really nice and has a great understanding of how misogynistic and homophobic the Trans Rights movement is.

Re Blackface, because I am up to date with all the shenanigans that TRAs get up to, I know he was being a Black Pamper referring to the Young TRAs who try to prevent women speaking.

Mr Menno did a pastiche on pronouns and the Sound of Music that gave me a proper laugh.

Can someone point me to the apology that the tras posted for their racists comments about black women.

He’s also done videos criticising Lorraine Kelly, Russell T Davies and Boy George, so don’t try to pretend he’s racist because he’s done one video about a TRA comedian who happens to be Asian. Unless you think that people of colour should be above criticism? That strikes me as a bit patronising.

I am not a white person, I am brown. I do not see Mr Menno's outfit as depicting a person of colour like myself. My immediate thought was not, ooh, he looks like a black person. Anyone that does think that is, to me, the racist. If you think those pictures make Mr Menno look more like the black man in the middle than the black clad man on the left, then you are the racist.

When those images are pasted side by side, along with images of blackface, it does look bad- but that's the deliberate intent. It stokes division. That doesn't help any of us.

So I imagine, and this is only a hunch, that the apology you are seeking is directly aligned with hell significantly dropping in temperature.
