I know this is meant to be exaggerated for effect but the reversibility of vasectomies is greatly overstated. The apparent rates of effective reversal are 75% within 3 years, up to 55% after 3 to 8 years, between 40% and 45% after 9 to 14 years, 30% after 15 to 19 years and less than 10% after 20 years. The longer a man waits to get his vasectomy reversed, the less likely it is to work. Even the best successes, where the vasectomy is reversed within 3 years, still have a failure rate of 25%.
There really has been something of a trend online since Roe v Wade was reversed of young men and mothers of male teens talking about their vasectomy plans to protect their future partners from unplanned pregnancy. Which is a nice sentiment but it actually does need to be stomped on because we are talking about potentially irreversible damage to a significant amount of men if they think this is temporary.
