So sounds like BoJo is finally about to be dragged out and I'm wondering who would be best to replace him in terms of being sympathetic to a GC's point of view?

I was thinking Savid Javid potentially? Any thoughts from anyone else?

Apparently Suella Braverman, the Attorney General is interested

Suella Braverman voted against lifting the abortion ban in Ireland. I'm not particularly thrilled by the idea of someone who only knows who women are so that they can control them

I do think the leader sets the scene though

Starmer who lies re biology is far worse than one who states reality

Yes, to an extent. Worth remembering this is very much not seen as a key issue, though.

Insofar as we need a sensible leader, we're okay unless it's Mordaunt, is that right?

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:00

No, Hunt is pro puberty blockers and Gillick competence for young teens thinking they can change their sex.

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:04

Tom Tugendhat - anyone know anything about where he stands?

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 07/07/2022 11:05

Penny Mordaunt is odds on at the moment, which is a worry.

Slowgrowingelm · 07/07/2022 11:08

Has Penny Mordaunt said anything to imply she has changed her views?

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:10

Ben Wallace is a wild card. He used to be anti same-sex marriage and gay people in the military. He ruled out men wearing make up in the army.

But now he says the world has moved on and supports same sex marriage.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 07/07/2022 11:13

But now he says the world has moved on and supports same sex marriage.

I don't mind this, myself. Lots of people (including Stonewall!) didn't support same sex marriage at the time it was going through.

The military stuff is stranger.

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:14

@SirSamVimesCityWatch

People do change their views, but the more they do the harder it is to judge where they’ll be on any one issue.

MarshaBradyo · 07/07/2022 11:15

I admit I don’t get bookies’ predictions but I just don’t hear Mordaunt’s name coming up on radio when people talk about strong possibles

I’m hoping that’s the case

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:17

I’m reading Wallace has a lot of support.

PearlClutch · 07/07/2022 11:18

ThePumpkinPatch · 07/07/2022 10:29

Personally - Rishi. But for non-political reasons, ironically.

For what reasons, then?

Is it hypothetical relationship purposes?

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:19

Tugendhat is a no. I’m reading he was very keen on reform of the GRA.

LarryBlackmonsCodpiece · 07/07/2022 11:20

Not Mordaunt!!!

JustAnotherViper · 07/07/2022 11:24

The makeup stuff I think is about standing out. The entire point of the uniform is to appear uniform. Society is conditioned to see women in makeup as the norm (and the rules allowing it are decades old) and men in makeup as unusual.

Gay men in the military. Having seen how straight men in the military behave around women/sex I imagine that’s about judging gay men by your own low standards. So they anticipated gay men behaving as sex pests in barracks and didn’t fancy being the target.

I'm just worried there'll be a general election and Labour will get in and immediately implement self ID

It’s such a shame, as I admire Keir Starmer, and I think many of the Labour politicians are decent people who genuinely want to serve their people and the country. And I don’t feel that way about most of the Conservative politicians. But I would never vote for a party that supports self id and dismisses women’s hard earned rights.

They don't call him Dishy Rishi for nothing... 😉

JustAnotherViper · 07/07/2022 11:27

I suspect Wallace knows exactly what a woman is, and won’t be interested in the woke agendas or women’s rights unless he can gain advantage from them. So no real change for us politically.

LarryBlackmonsCodpiece · 07/07/2022 11:28

I’m going from being absolutely relieved that the floppy haired muppet is going but very anxious who they might replace him with. Also very worried about snap elections, concerned Labour will get in & we’ll all be ‘under his eye’.

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:29

I’d be happy with Wallace if he showed the same backbone on the issue Javid and Truss have shown. It’s not enough to agree with us privately. There’s work to be done.

MarshaBradyo · 07/07/2022 11:31

Why do pp think a snap election is a possibility?

I don’t want it either but feel fairly ok with where we are - Johnson resigning and a new leader will keep the 80 seat majority

Am I missing the risk

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:32

I think a snap election is unlikely as well.

beastlyslumber · 07/07/2022 11:36

I love Kemi Badenoch, but I don't think she's ready yet. Another few years, maybe!

Savid probably the best bet for GC right now. There are some good politicians in the tory party these days. Incredibly diverse party as well.

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:37

Starmer droning on about a general election.

achillestoes · 07/07/2022 11:39

Starmer’s saying “twelve years... twelve years... twelve years...”

Even now he’s boring.
