Rugby - how to ask if girls will only be playing with/against girls?

Without causing an epic argument. Our local rugby club have just started 11-16 Rugby for girls, and over 16 team for women. However, I want to check that it is people born as women who are playing only as my own experience of playing against boys at a similar age is not very positive and involved a lot of injuries.

Does anyone have any advice or any guidance on this when it comes to Rugby please?

Surely you can just ask the club, and / or ask your daughter to tell you if any boys show up and play.

You are entitled to ask “Can I check that the girls in the team are all natal females and no male bodied trans girls are taking part? I ask this purely from a safety standpoint.”

‘Will all players be female?’

Ask them if they are following the World rugby rules regarding participation?

In reality, when England Rugby had the consultation about transgender participation in girls and womens rugby, there was a big flurry of form filling in our girls section.
Almost all of the parents of girl rugby players know how important girls only rugby is increasing confidence and skills, especially if their girl has come through the mini section.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I am going to contact the club directly and ask rather than through social media, I just live in a very anti-women area so wanted to get wording correct so there was no backlash on me/us.

Wasnt actually aware there had been a consultation from England Rugby - I'll go and have a read through the outcomes.

The England RFU Diversity and Inclusion Policy states that everyone be given equal opportunity based on the EA2010 protected characteristics. This document links to the Action Plan, which specifically mentions 'women' and 'LGB sexual orientation'.

The only mentions of LGBT, as opposed to LGB, are under Objectives: Game Play - see screenshot

I have boldly assumed you are in England and haven't looked at the Welsh, Scottish or Irish RFU policies, but I should think they are similar.

Yes England - thank you very much for the screenshot.

I would ask them about physical safety. I believe rugby should follow Australian practice in being categorised by sex, height and weight rather than sex and school year.

Are you talking rugby league rather than rugby union?

RL class 16 and up as open age but this isn't the case in union.
