Apsana Begum, a survivor of domestic abuse was signed off work by her GP following a campaign of misogynistic abuse in her local party. The Labour Party National Executive Committee has allowed trigger ballots to get rid of Parliament's only hijabi MP continue despite allegations of rule breaking, intimidation, bullying & harassment- and the involvement of her ex-husband in the campaign to hound her out.

Ms Begum has been appallingly treated and it’s unfortunately had a cumulative effect upon her wellbeing

That’s awful. I hope she can recover from this. No one deserves that.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 05/07/2022 22:40

The moral compass of people who do this. 🤐

This is so common in my community. Women don’t stand a chance apart from a few here and there and those have to work their socks off to keep the men on side. It was only the other week I commented on a community fb group under the post of the MP asking where the women were as there were just groups of men everywhere but nobody wants to question this status quo. Group of over 3000 people but nobody called this out. It’s a seedy underworld where it’s all about power/influence/male privilege.

Sorry I don't understand the background. Who is hounding her out of the party and why?
