I thought this interview was very sad. Lots of stuff I didn't realize here about the brutality of surgery.

Hugely sad and talked through the issues and her feeling that a whole generation of kids may go through her problems without being properly advised.

HangingOver · 04/07/2022 16:07

Really interesting when he says, "I wanted to join the other side because I wasn't being heard". Feel like there are interesting parallels there with young women.

Also I saw in another interview with him he says he was signed off for bottom surgery after just 12 therapy sessions Shock

It's devastating and sadly there will be so many more in the future.

Shapeshifter is enormously brave for speaking so loudly about his situation. TulipR/Ritchie too. These voices are only getting louder thank goodness. I just wish they weren't going through it.

mrshoho · 04/07/2022 20:09

Very sad to hear these life stories from detransitioners but I'm glad their voices are being heard. There are going to be so many damaged people regretting the mutilation of their bodies. An openly trans YouTuber giving them space on their channel speaks volumes.

BootsAndRoots · 04/07/2022 20:47

Blaire White is a trans woman who says that transitioning isn't for everyone.

It works for some, not so much for others.

If only more people were as open and accepting as her over this issue.

samsalmon · 04/07/2022 21:00

Blaire White, same as Buck Angel, has a very clear line in the sand about not transing children.

WarriorN · 04/07/2022 21:24

And Blaire has made a point about not getting GRS.

mrshoho · 04/07/2022 21:58

I wonder how the hardline TRAs react to one of their own who speak out about their ideology? Do they get the same venomous attacks as JK Rowling and others experience?

HangingOver · 04/07/2022 22:45

I rather like Blaire. I don't agree with her on all her views but I think she's fair and balanced here and do appreciate her for bringing certain discussions to the fore that others won't. She must have a very thick skin too!

They get called truscum and vilified, yes

mrshoho · 04/07/2022 23:06

That's some cognitive dissonance -TRAs calling a trans person a transphobe. How do they reconcile this?

Same old shite as usual, I'm right the world is wrong....

The same way people call people who are homosexual or bisexual homophobes. Or they call black people Uncle Toms or coconuts. Etc.

mrshoho · 05/07/2022 07:55

So the world has to be turned upside down to be inclusive to the Trans group but only to the type of Trans this ideology approves of. Batshit! They preach to the masses about being inclusive but then are happy to shit on fellow trans.

applesandpears33 · 05/07/2022 08:16

I think Shapeshifter was very brave to speak out in such a frank way. I am not sure how old Shapeshifter is, but to have osteoporosis at such a young age is very worrying and I can't help wondering what the longer term complications may be in ten or twenty years time.

ElizabethFernsby · 05/07/2022 08:28

I'm so glad people are able to talk openly about this. It's really important for people, especially young people, to understand the reality of their ideologies and the dangers of the decisions they are going to make, before they make any huge, irreversible mistakes.

It's the con of the century. It really is.

Literally everyone who says they are trans is trans, unless they are detrans and then they are scum who never were trans and are doing massive harm to the trans "community" [which isn't very community-minded towards detransitioners.]

Literally the only thing that matters, the only thing that is real, is power dynamics / privilege. Anyone who is not unquestioningly promoting the true trans agenda is by definition a hateful bigoted transphobe, it really isn't complicated.

A TW who doesn't need validation as a literal woman is clearly not underprivileged in the way that a real trans person is, therefore their viewpoint is irrelevant, just like rich people, white people and cis people's viewpoints are irrelevant.
