There's no LGB without the T

This is getting a lot of love on my LinkedIn tonight.

I've never posted in S&G before, let alone started a thread and of course I haven't responded.

  1. Why is there no LGB without the T?
  1. Do all my straight, white, cis (sorry but it is relevant here) connections understand the intersection of being a lesbian and a "transphobe".
  1. I support trans rights.
  1. I understand that sometimes different rights clash.

It's just all so Alice in Wonderland.

I have been out at a year 2 mums night out. After I had mentioned Harry Potter world, someone said isn't JK Rowling bad now? There were 6 of us around the table. This turned into a 45 minute discussion about women only rape crisis counselling services, smear tests and cervices, women's prisons etc. A v v non-political group (aka the vast majority). 2 of us clearly knew what we were talking about; 1 was a Dr who nodded sagely; and the other 3 were hearing about this for the first time but were incensed.

It's such a hard one. I'm a typical remoaner, thinking that the vast majority of people are idiots, who would vote the "wrong" way given the chance, BUT I think the more "normal" people involved in these discussions the better. Which makes me worry that I am allied to the far right on this, which I am not. Your intolerance does not equal my tolerance. (I'd love be it if someone more eloquent who has had less wine would finish that sentence). Am I on the wrong side of history?

I think from context that he is recognising that lesbians are being called transphobic for daring to say no to sex with TW (as homosexual women continue to exist) and maybe doesn't think this is an entirely good thing but...

is not quite all the way ready to say "giving heterosexual men the right to declare that from now on they will pursue sexual relationships with homosexual women is preposterously homophobic and of course I can't agree with it".

Is that about right OP?

I don't think I'm quite clever enough to understand your post (I did try but by the time the kids are in bed it's 1am every night and as it's the weekend I've drunk about 15 units of alcohol) but trying really hard, I think I understand your first paragraph but am a bit confused by the second.

Basically my beef is that a lesbian doesn't want a dick. And she isn't transphobic for saying so.

There's no LGB with the T I think. T removes any sense of biology so what does it mean to be attracted to a woman if woman means nothing? This deeply homophobic

I stop listening/reading whenever the word 'intersection' comes up these days - I know there is bullshit to follow and I have better things to do with my life than listen to/read it.
