What is this new addition to the progress flag?

Saw this at Glastonbury.

My first reading as I looked at the first panel was blimey could they cover up the original rainbow any more? However, on reflection the rainbow does extend over the whole banner so not totally lost.

Anyway I’ve not seen this variation before with yellow and a maroon circle. Does anyone know what it represents?

I believe it represents intersex people.

achillestoes · 01/07/2022 11:45

I think it’s people with DSDs.

puffyisgood · 01/07/2022 11:45

GIYF but i'm pretty sure it's intersex.

KittenKong · 01/07/2022 13:37

And they have begged and pleaded to NOT be added - it’s not a flipping sexuality or identification. Any still there it is. Bloody insulting.

I saw a flag in Knightsbridgethis week - the new version (with circle) but the ‘fat’ end of the new wedge started half way down the original pride flag, so the ‘progress’ stripes are shoving them along the flag (until they drop off) .

Yep it's intersex, which just shows how little they listen to people with VSDs who have repeatedly asked not be called intersex or be added to the various identity acronyms.

I was so cross about it I raised it at work when they unveiled the "exciting" new flag. They didn't really have an answer

Shortpoet · 01/07/2022 13:49

Thanks, strange that this would be added to the flag when so many people with DSD have requested not to be included.

Wonder what’s coming next in the chevron…

But the whole deal with people with differences of sexual developments (DSD the preferred name AKA Intersex) is that they are male or female not a third sex, hence disproves the idea that people can change sex.

They don't think much do they!

puffyisgood · 01/07/2022 15:22

as we know, trans activists are always particularly keen to bring people with DSD's 'into the conversation', mistakenly believing or hoping that the existence of such people removes (as opposed to very slightly blurring in a tiny number of cases) the boundaries between the two sexes.

I love the way the gay rights bit is almost completely eclipsed now.

Misstache · 01/07/2022 15:26

Ah, but DSD and Trans are the same when they want to make arguments about “sex isn’t a binary,” but not when they want to argue against protected categories in sports (“no Trans woman has won Olympics gold”…ok but all 3 medalists in the women’s 800m in 2016 were DSD, Niyonsaba set a world record as a DSD athlete, Mboma is Olympic silver medalist…funny how suddenly that doesn’t count as the same thing, huh?)

Artichokeleaves · 01/07/2022 16:41

About the only thing left that hasn't been jammed on there now is save the whale. 🙄 Mind you, they're not politically helpful to appropriate and have control of the voices of. Yet.

BootsAndRoots · 01/07/2022 16:48

Here's the most recent version people are using (they've found a solution to replacing the Ukrainian flag for a month).

That's what people said here when the flag was first unvieled a year or so back (I think) -the chevron is the thin edge of the wedge to push out the rainbow.

They just can't help themselves
