She is on bbc discussing trans inclusion in sports. She and a doctor from Stockholm are being very sensible the trans people are saying oh but its just mean and women being meany mean pants.

She is brilliant and being absolutely wonderful. The trans inclusion person started on about children's mental health and she countered with what about women's mental health.

Typical BBC attempt at transwashing and she is really standing up against it.

Yes, and the constant talk about "banning" people from sport.

Nope.
They're not "banned" - just being asked to play in their own sex category.

Caaarrrl · 26/06/2022 11:09

That whole section was really biased as usually from the woke BBC. The 2 transwomen were allowed to deliver their opinions (lectures) with no follow up questions. Tessa and the scientist were questioned on what they said and the only comment from a viewer was supportive of transwomen playing in female sports.

SallyLockheart · 26/06/2022 11:10

Was this tv or radio?

Truthlikeness · 26/06/2022 11:10

These elder stateswomen of sport (Tessa, Sharron Davies, Martina, Mara Yamauchi etc) and really going to bat on this issue.

Sunday morning live on bbc1

Glenthebattleostrich · 26/06/2022 11:13

It was on the bbc Sunday morning religious program.

I think Tessa and the scientists faces said everything that needed to be said! Everytime the lectures were delivered their faces said more than any words could!

Ive spent the entire section shouting at the TV, especially when the transman lectured on cis people FFS

I suggest putting in a complaint saying you are happy they had Tessa on but there was bias in how it was done and you are aware that the BBC has been criticised recently for lack of impartiality on this issue. I expect most people watching agreed with Tessa anyway, as polls show.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2022 11:16

Was the doctor called Tommy Lundberg? I saw he was going to be on something today.

BoredofthisCrap7 · 26/06/2022 11:16

Interesting that the trans person is a vicar.
So God DOES make mistakes then?

Wonder how they reconcile that with their faith.

Gender ideology is another quasi religion so I guess it fits, maybe this person simply doesn't like reality.

MalagaNights · 26/06/2022 11:36

Tessa was brilliant.

So calm and clear.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 26/06/2022 11:37

She was brilliant. Thank you Tessa!

Clearly though the gender representatives are still promoting the idea that sport should be about kindness to gendered souls rather than competition between sexed bodies. They are viewing things from a completely different perspective, the paradigm of their ideology that words and feeling have mystical, magical power over matter and reality.

I think so. Was busy yelling while typing so didn't catch his name but thats familiar!

I am complaining to BBC, it's actually rare that I watch it now but somehow ended up on that programme. DH reminded me how cross I get when I do venture down the rabbit hole.

The vicar did the stereotypical 'soft voice and kind head tilt' nonesense which i found incredibly irritating, I genuinely do not know one woman who speaks or behaves like that. It was bloody irritating. I also so desperately wanted to point out that as the church (abd most religions) teach homosexuality is a sin, does the viar perhaps think that they may just have transed the gay away?

I also need to send a note to Tessa to thank her for a fabulous performance. We absolutely need to see more of these incredible women, who inspired women of my generation to get into sports in the first place, made women's sports so fantastic and now are fighting to preserve women's aport for our daughters.

Yes I'm ashamed to say I wanted to slap the vicar.

RhannionKPSS · 26/06/2022 12:17

She was fantastic! Thank you Tessa

SquirrelFan · 26/06/2022 12:22

Has anyone posted a question on this subject for Rachel Brown-Finnis, former England goalkeeper, who is doing a Q&A for Mumsnet? It's linked in Instagram. Or would it put her on the spot too much? There's only a few questions, one of which is about recovering one's abs after children. 🙄

TullyApplebottom · 26/06/2022 12:31

As with Daley Thompson, it’s great when your childhood heroes don’t let you down.

FOJN · 26/06/2022 12:46

The trans inclusion person started on about children's mental health and she countered with what about women's mental health.

I love this. For too long women have been shamed into silence about their own wants and needs because society likes to portray women with self worth as selfish for not putting everyone else first. So yes, what about women's mental health? Why does it matter less than that of another group?

Musomama1 · 26/06/2022 12:48

Hypothetical question... if a male trans vicar (TW that is) went full op, would they be able to marry and have relations with a male partner?

Asking for a friend.

HouseOfGoldandBones · 26/06/2022 12:59

If a person wanted to send her a note thanking her, how would they go about that?

Rubidium · 26/06/2022 13:20

As with Daley Thompson, it’s great when your childhood heroes don’t let you down.

See also Sebastian Coe, contemporary of Daley Thompson and Tessa Sanderson, now head of World Athletics who dropped heavy hints this week that they are going to follow FINA in prohibiting transwomen from competing in female categories.
