German FA says players can chose to play on either “men” or “women” team

Transgender and non-binary players — and presumably anyone — can chose whatever gender team they wish to play on.

Bizarre.

So German football just has 2 mixed sex teams then. How will they decide which team goes up against other countries mens team and which one goes against women?

Looks like it only considers one person but the doping element feels opaque. And:

Sounds like the end of the girls' game.

So can all the premier league women identify into premier league men’s team and get paid accordingly or does this “choose what team you play in” only apply to male people?

Yes but they’re not good enough. They should train harder. Work harder. Be as good as the men, the lazy baggages.

Fifa make the rules for world cups. They’re currently reviewing their policies, and I suspect (and hope) will follow FINA’s lead: they’re looking at the science.

According to today's Süddeutsche Zeitung this relates to youth and amateur sections only, which often field mixed teams anyway. So no talk of extending to professional women's teams. Then again, this is the football association which "rewarded" the national women's team for their first world cup win with porcelain coffee sets.

Either CNN is reporting incorrectly or the German FA has not defined the rule clearly, as this statement suggests players can “play” on any team, not just try out:

It would be epic if loads of women joined the men’s international football team, and they tanked at the World Cup as obviously they’d be playing against men. Didn’t a group of 15 year old boys from a high school beat the USA women’s team?

Does this mean that a female can take testosterone and continue to play on the women's team, as long as this female identifies as a man, but a woman who takes testosterone will be banned under doping regulations?

I’m going to guess the men get automatic access and a place on the team and the women get to try out for the team…..I wonder how they are going to rationalise it?

I am sure women'll get to make the coffee and cakes as well as trying out for but not getting into the team.

I've come across German clubs fielding mixed teams - which is surely madness - v high risk of injury to the women and girls.
