I was actually enjoying this so much. But there's a point in her halftime show, where she wants to put the symbol of 'woman' in her show.

I read about this. Apparently this guy, the director (who is British) told her it was "contentious", "problematic" and might be seen as "exclusive".

I think in fairness he was saying you're going to get push back for it- it will be seen as exclusionary and Twitter will be all about it. If she had fought for it like she did the cages it would have been in.

Hmm, this is the chilling effect in action, though - his cowardice doing the extremists' work for them. What kind of credible pushback would there actually have been? I'm struggling to think of any possible complaint that wouldn't have looked ridiculous to 99.99% of the population. Even on Twitter I can't imagine it would get much traction outside of a few blue-haired teens muttering to each other.

I appreciate it was her call to make and she chose to pick her battles.

I was watching this late last night and thought I had heard the predictable shitty pushback from the guy on the phone re the female symbol.

She did get one symbol in though, I think, wasn’t there an aerial shot of it at the end?

Hmm. I’m now doubting it. Maybe it was the outline of the stage rather than the specific symbol.
