Apparently banning TW from women's rugby is like "making black people drink from their own water fountain"....

Just watched a report on the Scottish news, no idea if the interview aired in the rest of the UK.

The "expert" who was talking about the "banning" of TW in women's rugby (and other sports) said it was akin to the segregation of the black people from whites and like "making them drink from a "blacks only" water fountain and being "banned" from the "whites only" one.

I can't believe :

a) that some people STILL compare this to a race issue. WHY does it always come down to comparisons with race? Can't they see how damn racist this is?
b) that this idiot couldn't see that biological males were not "banned" from anything. They are free, as is anyone, to play in the sporting team that aligns with their biological sex.

The footage running alongside this interview showed a massive TW tackling other women to the ground in a rugby match. Apparently this is "inclusivity" in this person's world and anything less than letting biological males play alongside women is hateful and " a human rights issue".

I uttered some strong words while this interview was on. DH is waking up to this now and is also horrified it has come to this.

But, let me just say a massive THANK YOU LIA THOMAS! YOU have probably been the one to (hopefully) start this issue snowballing in the consciousness of the general public. You have done more single handedly than many feminists or women's rights activists have been able to achieve on their own, and I applaud you for it. (sarcasm)

Thanks LIA!!!!

I’m assuming those same people don’t think gender segregation is like “blacks only” fountains?

wonderstuff · 21/06/2022 22:01

So fucking racist. Essentially saying the difference between black and white women is the same as the difference between men and women. Makes me so cross. I am however pleased that rugby is prioritising female safety.

Well as it obviously isn't, a crazy statement like this is best challenged for being the racist shite it is.

titchy · 21/06/2022 22:15

So they want there to be only one metaphorical water fountain then?

underneaththeash · 21/06/2022 22:18

No, it’s just not letting people have an unfair advantage (cheat)

Motorina · 21/06/2022 23:02

TW presenting as female to access women's sports is a bit like white people donning blackface to access opportunities reserved for ethnic minorities.

The comparison holds. Just not in the way they think it does.

puffyisgood · 21/06/2022 23:10

with all these early onset dementia cases coming to light, posing an existential threat to the game, footage of giant TW's steamrollering much gallery smaller natal women is the very last thing rugby needs, this was a total no-brainer.

size mismatches are something that modern rugby is always agonizing over, you always see talk about weight classes for schoolboy rugby, tweaks to the rules to encourage cardio fitness so the expense of bodybuilder types, etc. this is not victimisation of TW, it completely follows from standard practice. safety always comes first in a collision (or combat) sport.

ARoombaOfOnesOwn · 21/06/2022 23:32

I’m not sure we should be allowing drinking fountains anyway because of the increased rate of drowning due to the FINA ruling.

Babdoc · 21/06/2022 23:45

It’s a good sign that the TRAs are clutching at straws now. They’ve failed to beat us into submission with accusations of being “transphobic” so they are now trying to associate us with racists. Next they will claim we are fascists. The narcissistic rage is beginning to be tinged with desperation, no?

MidCenturyClegs · 22/06/2022 00:02

I had the popcorn all ready to pop today for a Talcum explosion but he's not so far complied with my expectations.
Bit gutted really.

🤣🤣🤣

TheSandgroper · 22/06/2022 01:17

On the ABC in Australia the other day after the FINA ruling, Tracey Holmes, a very well respected sports journalist, compared the discussion and decision to apartheid.

But the ABC reports every other viewpoint as transphobic and transphobia only so she really was just pushing the party line.

Cheekymaw · 22/06/2022 01:27

That is so offensive and racist. Shame on whoever said that. No comparison whatsoever.

MangyInseam · 22/06/2022 02:36

They say it because it is logical if you really believe that TWAW. That's why that idea is such an important part of establishing the ideology as a whole.

Eightiesfan · 22/06/2022 06:34

The whole trans ideology is not misogynistic but there are definitely racist undertones.

There have been some well publicised cases in the US, of white women ‘identifying’ as black, because you know ‘the feels’ Rachel Dolezal even took employment claiming black ancestry. Oh, and let’s not forget the police reports of racial harassment.

She was apparently outed by her parents. Her claims of being black at the time was laughed at and she was rightly vilified in the media.

However, if TW succeed in their quest to give themselves rights at the expense of actual women, how long will it be before trans allies are fighting for trans racial rights?

The worst case scenario is that white men will have all the power, not unlike now but this time they will have the law behind them. Positive discrimination in the workforce will be a thing of the past.

Where will it end? Maybe it will take grown men identifying as 12-year-old girls and want the right to attend school, gym classes etc. Or maybe the line will be crossed by the nappy-wearing brigade who want the right to attend nursery?

Sounds ridiculous, so does the idea of a woman having a penis, yet here we are.

sashh · 22/06/2022 06:49

If you are going to use that analogy then it's like a white person putting on black face and complaining that black people don't give them priority to use the fountain.

FrancescaContini · 22/06/2022 06:55

Why doesn’t it surprise me that this was on Scottish news?

I have never heard a more fucking ridiculous analogy.

Musomama1 · 22/06/2022 09:19

But including men in women's sport is like mysogyny and sex discrimination.

TRAs never ever utter any sentiment that shows they even in the least consider women, their opportunities feelings and safety.

Oh and it's not racism. Trans activists say they are something they are not and argue for inequality.

puffyisgood · 22/06/2022 09:25

e.g. world rugby (union) just put this out, the ethos is entirely current with not wanting mixed sex full contact adult games.

puffyisgood · 22/06/2022 09:25
  • entirely consistent.
PutinIsAWarCriminal · 22/06/2022 09:29

The TW in sport is horrible appropriation, but its hugely disproportionate and offensive to liken it to racism, from whichever angle.

Mandodari · 22/06/2022 09:36

Amazing how much racism comes from the be kind crowd.

namechange9357 · 22/06/2022 09:41

sharing a water fountain with black people isn't going to put white people in comas, or wheelchairs etc.
