Link to news report here

Leaflet explaining puberty have the words “men and boys” for males , and “those with ovaries and a womb” or “half the population” for females. No mention of girls and women.

Before long, the two sexes will be:

Males

and anything else that wants to call itself anything it likes and you all have to share a bathroom.

Waitwhat23 · 21/06/2022 21:15

We're not far off. The Greens (and some other organisations) refer to men and 'non men'.

If you don't know what a period is (to the extent you need to read a website that explains it) perhaps you may also not know what a womb and ovaries are and whether you have them?

Absolutely - it's astonishing the extent to which women used to grow up without being taught anything about their bodies. As a teenager I thought my mum wouldn't say certain words because she considered them dirty or rude. Only when she was in her 70s and was having doctors try to explain medical procedures to her did I realise that a) she did not know the words to describe her own anatomy AND b) the euphemisms she used were vague and muddled because her understanding of female anatomy was vague and muddled. God knows we seem to be heading back there at break neck speed.

I'm a teacher mid way through the reproduction topic with year 7. It surprises me every year how little the children know about their own reproductive organs. Children are far more likely to know that periods exist than what ovaries are.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 22/06/2022 12:47

Why is it women who are being erased and not men? Surely the language should apply to both.

TheBiologyStupid · 22/06/2022 12:49

To be fair, Scottish men have a very long history of crossdressing whilst bearded, so they've been at the forefront of this issue for ages...!

Never mind - get your witches pardoned from 1563. It will clear the way to burn the new ones 👍

They want to know what you think 🤔

So, presumably Nicola will be taking firm steps to stop the recent anti-abortion protests outside Scottish clinics, will she? Even though she's so far demurred?

Any women who complain about this being a distraction will of course be done for hate crimes under our new Witchcraft - sorry Hate Crime Bill.

DisgustedofManchester · 27/06/2022 14:31

Is it going to be an all at once erasure or will women have time to get to safety across the border?

Womanofcustard · 27/06/2022 15:35

Let’s not forget the Anglo-Saxon base of the English language:
Man = person
Woman = person with a womb (womb-man)
Therefore only women can have a period.

334bu · 27/06/2022 15:37

Removing women's ability to describe themselves as a group is the ultimate act of male oppression.

In one sentence.

Women aren't women, they're just 'people'.

The default person as we all know, much to the cost of us uterus driving cunty types in so many ways like heart attacks, road safety yada yada, is a male.

So person off, Nicola.

'man' was originally used for both sexes.

'wif' has uncertain origins as far as I'm aware, where have you seen that it means 'womb'?

It's a mystery why you find women's distress so amusing.

Artichokeleaves · 27/06/2022 16:02

Nah, it's really not.

I think they are two different words; I checked out the link you gave and it differs from what I have read, sorry I can’t check where I’ve read it at present - wallpapering a ceiling.

Braggiography · 27/06/2022 19:41

I hope you're not up a ladder, Womanofcustard!
