YouGov - survey on FINA decision to ban transwomen from female category

I'm on the YouGov panel and get sent emails daily to complete surveys on various things. Today's is all about the FINA decision. If you're also on the panel, it's worth taking a look. The interesting thing is that you can see live results - these aren't the final figures as people are still answering but it's usually a fairly good indication. So far, around 85% in favour

If people can sign up to comment specifically on a particular issue that surely invalidates the results. I always thought that these polls were answered by a pre selected group who representative in age/ sex/race/ etc of the population at large.

I can't sign up. It says I have to try again with a valid email address. Even though I'm using my email address which is very much valid.

And how much I liked the Tory party (which was quite satisfying to answer).

@Willhewonthe67 they already have demographic information for all the people registered with them, so results can be filtered on that basis in final reports.

There is a difference between the 3 daily questions (Eurovision etc today) and the actual surveys, which are both emailed and flagged on the app (top box in image).

I rarely get the interesting surveys any more, usually tedious ones about which TV programmes I watch (none 🤣). It takes me many months to accumulate 5000 points.

Oh, just realised the Fina thing is only Daily Chat and not a proper poll at all so (as stated throughout) it isn’t representative of anything & won’t be reported as such.
