Anyone going to College Green this afternoon for the rally?
I am hoping to if I am feeling better - crappy cold, and hope the weather holds.

According to Andrew Doyle's 'Free Speech Nation', one of the aggressive men was heard shouting 'go home and look after your children'.

Could they be any more misogynistic?

'You are dinosaurs, you are fossils',
these two men scream whilst intimidating women.

Ooh, fossils. Can I be an Echinoid?

Having seen a fair amount of footage on Twitter, the amount of aggression, intimidation and violence which was directed towards women meeting to discuss women's rights is horrifying, if unsurprising. Women walking to the pub after the event were kettled, the pub was surrounded while men screamed for the women to come out 'for a fair go' and women were told to leave in twos or threes. Sexual threats and violent threats shouted but seemingly nothing done by the Police.

Unsurprisingly, 'TRA's' have started to claim that there were violent acts made against them. No footage to back that up though. Plenty to show violence and intimidation against women though.

Hatred against women. Given an 'acceptable' outlet.

Waitwhat23 · 19/06/2022 22:19

And now the Police are trying to 'both sides' this - twitter.com/ASPBristol/status/1538569775248547843?s=20&t=joRgGnoU7k37ZLXl-BWIYA

Absolutely shameful.

I'm in a RAGE!!!

How fucking dare they???

https://twitter.com/aspbristol/status/1538569775248547843?s=21&t=IGGaQIRsgn70eyII_b5cXg

Facilitated 2 protests?? We were on Speakers Corner, the TRAs were aggressive and violent.

They surrounded us, completely surrounded us and shouted in our faces. The police just watched as they broke through and stood in our crown. All masked up and standing there glaring !!

They harassed and swore at a 12 year old wee girl, a disabled woman in a mobility scooter in fact they swore and made threats to almost or everyone!! Or should I say almost any woman, didn't see them threatening any of the male supporters. Can't guess why?

When we went to the pub they followed and shouted to come out and fight them!!

Please if you have Twitter go on there and protest!

And who do I complain to about the lack of police security? They just stood and watched them graffiti and sticker everywhere with chalk and marker pen.

The officers there were too scared to do anything or more likely had been told not to do anything. Shame on them!

Age is one of the 9 protected characteristics.

Good point.

I am MILLIONS of years old.

Pluvia · 20/06/2022 00:19

This is Men's Rights Activism. These men hate women.

We and the police and our leaders need to acknowledge that this is no longer about transgender ideology. It's about angry men furious with all the advances that women have made over the years, who've realised that transgender ideology is a way of legitimising their misogyny.

They can yell 'Go home to your kids' safe in the knowledge that they're backed by Labour and by the 'progressive' governments of Scotland and Wales.

This is a war against women.

ControversialOpening · 20/06/2022 00:23

I noticed a few of the TRAs dressed up in blackface*

*As defined by the woman haters on this board a few weeks back.

FemaleAndLearning · 20/06/2022 00:41

I've just been watching videos and seeing photos. The violent intimidation is beyond a protest. They remind me if my abusive husband shouting right in my face like they did to the women there.
The police were pretty useful but glad they were there.
Someone in the press needs to remind these fuckwits and the police that meeting at speaker's corner is not a protest. The trans activists were not counter protesting. They were protesting the democratic right of women to meet and speak.

Seeing the pictures of erections (stills from videos, noone was perving on these hateful men) whilst these men were screaming at women and girls makes me sick to the stomach. I don't want these men in single sex spaces with women.
Trans 'rights' are now synonomous with men's rights this protest made that very clear.
We all need to keep talking and sharing with our friends, families, work colleagues

"If not you then who? If not now then when?" Kelly-Jay Keen.

Here's the video, make up your own mind

oquin · 20/06/2022 01:08

They harassed and swore at a 12 year old wee girl

This was no place to take a child knowing the violent black pampers were gong to be there as we had been warned by KJK and others all week.

Hied · 20/06/2022 05:59

oquin I must respectfully disagree. If I had a daughter who wanted to come I would definitely let them attend.

I would not let my daughter stay scared at home because of men!!!!

The young girls who were there, including the one who spoke, appeared not be intimated and learned a valuable lesson on the strength of women.

I would be proud to be their mothers.

WindyKnickers · 20/06/2022 06:17

www.bristol247.com/lgbtq/news-lgbtq/counter-protest-disrupts-transphobic-womens-rights-rally/

Highly biased write up by B24/7. I wasn't there but it would be great if anyone who was could put them right?

LaSavoie · 20/06/2022 06:50

It is shocking how biased the Bristol newspaper and the police have been in their reporting. They are falling over backwards to present it as equally bad behaviour on both sides.
Thank god for technology and social media.

GailForce10 · 20/06/2022 07:02

Funnily enough, if you look on sites like Arrse, which is for former services, the overwhelming support is for those being attacked by the TRAs.

KatVonlabonk · 20/06/2022 07:18

Seeing how excited some of the lead thugs were has really put me off my breakfast.

Hied · 20/06/2022 07:48

Can I also point out, as someone just recently posted on another thread, being called transphobic doesn't carry the weight it used to.

So these thugs called us

  • racists (the one chanted the most)
  • Nazis
  • homophobes
  • islamaphobes
  • white supremacists
  • terror mongers

The racist one! I mean WTF! There was at least 2 women of colour speakers and we had a very diverse crowd.

A person with a penis in a dress (dont want to say man, in case this post gets deleted) was snogging the face of a woman whilst standing behind a speaker. I think they were trying to shock!

The protesters were also ..... all white and mostly male!

Work that one out!!

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 20/06/2022 08:05

Here's the video, make up your own mind

dunno what difference the video’s supposed to make, it’s obviously a (very unimpressive) erection.

severnboring · 20/06/2022 08:08

Oh and by the fucking way, there is a massive Home Office and Bristol council-funded anti-harassment of women campaign and 'Women's Safety Charter' plastered all over Bristol at the moment, including College Green/Park St. Bus stops, hoardings and an enormous mural. 'If it's unwanted it's not OK' is the strapline.

www.bristolnights.co.uk/its-not-ok

www.bristol247.com/news-and-features/news/new-murals-call-out-harassment-against-women/

Apparently Bristol has 'zero tolerance' of harrassment against women.

Re the AS police, they have done the confused 'misogyny is a hate crime thing' since 2017, as you can read here it's gender gender gender so they probably think the balaclava crew are the victims:

www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/gender-hate-now-recognised-crime-635194

This is the A and S PCC and chief constable response to local MP re how women can trust the police after Wayne Couzens:

www.debbonaire.co.uk/blog/2021/10/01/violence-against-women-my-letter-to-the-police/

(Apparently they are developing a new VAWG strategy. Perhaps yesterday was research for the how-to guide.)

'...We recognise that misogyny is an issue which is wide reaching and intersects with several associated offences....
....We recognise the value of having a robust evidence base and an understanding of what drives hate in all forms. Following the worrying emergence of ‘incel’ (involuntary celibate) groups in Canada and the USA, research and assurance work has been undertaken to detect and understand misogynist extremism of this kind at a local level....
....Central to the level of trust women have in the police, is their perception as to how we respond to offences which most affect them....
....We must also focus on our own internal culture. This is not the time for denial....'

Fuck OFF

severnboring · 20/06/2022 08:15

I guess the police have to wait until the advanced level misogyny training to learn that signs sucking 'suck my dick' are, in fact, misogynist.

Occurs to me that the only people there yesterday who have ever been arrested/interviewed by police etc are Jenni Swayne and KJK.

Waitwhat23 · 20/06/2022 09:50

Great thread about the event -

twitter.com/JackMerched/status/1538668773758185479?s=20&t=OuCSBaA9GWPjRJBZCifdeA

I am full of admiration for the steward in one of the photos who is standing between the Police and the masked women haters. Undaunted and brave.
