I understand from legal proceedings that certain barristers at Garden Court chambers rely on pink news for advice and information. Which of course explains the current mess they're in

It's not journalism. It's a lobbying/pressure org that calls itself a media outlet.

It's funny isn't it - many who like to think of themselves as on the 'Left' usually seem quite wary of 'newspapers' or media outlets that are very much the baby of one middle aged white male owner or editor.

Now the Sunday Times has ranked PinkNews as the 48th fastest growing company in the UK!

I wonder where their money comes from. If you look at their twitter or Facebook, there's minimal engagement, despite them often coming up in my sponsored posts. I seem to remember someone saying they got a lot of donations but I don't recall the details. Anyone?

It's not a bad business model, clearly.

They have a big audience on snapchat and probably tik tok too. I noticed recently they do Youtube shorts - the one I saw had about 1M views. It was a very click bait title so I assume that stuff generates plenty of ad revenue.

They made £2m in 2021. They are a very succesful business and brand.

Blocked & Reported podcast has a recent episode about US liberal and conservative media outlets/journalists creating fake outrage between them to generate clicks. As much as people like to think that people only work for publications that share their views, journalism is a relatively small world, journalists mostly know each other and switch between outlets as their careers move along.

I have known Ben since 2004, before pink news was launched and we both share a MS diagnosis. He started pink news as a bit of a side huddle - I don’t follow anything about it and am only loosely in touch with Ben and Anthony these days, but I’m not sure he expected it to go the way it has.

I’ve gone back to using hankies. More eco-friendly & a lot gentler when you’ve got a sore nose.
