Child rapist now known as "Rose Whitby" jailed for 10 years

The child rapist, also known as Matthew Whitby and Matheu Babic, had previously been convicted for two rapes and the attempted rape of young women.

He was referred to in court as 'she' and in the news report as 'she' and 'they': www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/sex-beast-carried-out-campaign-7207216 (link contains a description of the attacks on the young girl)

'Whitby was this week handed a 15-and-a-half year extended jail sentence after admitting three charges of raping a child under the age of 13 in relation to the latest victim. The defendant has been classed as 'dangerous' and must serve two-thirds of the 10-and-a-half year custodial sentence before she can be considered for parole.'

'The victim reported the abuse in May, 2021 and the defendant denied the allegations. But on January 2 this year they flagged down police, said they wanted to be arrested for a rape, and would kill themselves by jumping off a bridge if not arrested.

Kelly Cyples, mitigating, said the defendant has struggled to come to terms with her actions but accepts them. She said: "She tried to put it in a box, lock it away, and forget about it. She expresses her deep sense of remorse and shame for her actions."

Whitby has been handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Judge David Fletcher told the defendant: "These matters are much more serious than the matters you were convicted of in 2013. This was a particularly vulnerable child due to her extreme youth and circumstances. This was a campaign of rape. You are clearly a dangerous offender."'

You are immensely brave Megbabic981. I'm so very sorry that they did all this to you and the little girl. Thankyou for making sure it doesn't happen to anyone else Flowers

Freysimo · 22/05/2024 07:07

Meggan you are such a brave woman and I'm sorry for all you've suffered. Can anyone tell me why the media refer to (clearly male) rapists as she? Is there some sort of insane guidance they have to adhere to?

Meggan Flowers

Your bravery is formidable. I hope you are able to heal and recover.

SuncreamAndIceCream · 22/05/2024 09:41

Thank you @Megbabic981

You are an astonishingly brave young woman. You have undoubtedly saved others from being raped and abused. I totally disagree with the courts decision about your father - he is clearly a dangerous man. I wish you all the best.

Nomdaplums · 22/05/2024 11:14

I'll never refer to this man as a she and the criminal justice system should be deeply ashamed of their offensive unjustified and needless pandering.

flyingbuttress43 · 22/05/2024 17:08

Are there any people/organisations campaigning to get IPSO to change its guidelines?
