But it never happens: sexual assault of teen in women's shelter

This is a twitter thread about events in a women's shelter in America.

I volunteer with a total of 3 organizations that help protect, house & counsel women & children whom are victims of DV, SA, assault, r×pe & trafficking.

With the permission of her legal guardian (her mom) as well as her express consent, I will be relating the story of "Jade".
Jade is 15. And she was SAed by a ♂️ whom IDed as a woman inside of a women's shelter shower room.
Jade & her mother were not informed that this shelter allowed bio ♂️s into it. They were told on paper & in person that "this facility hosts only women & their minor children".

Jade, with her mother's knowledge, went to shower before bed. Since the shower room was across & 1 down from their sleeping area, her mother stayed to put her 2 year old brother to bed.

After about 10 minutes, the screams erupted....

From here forward, I'm placing a major TW.
Her mom had no idea it was Jade screaming at first. But she grabbed her son & took off down the hall. As she was running toward the shower room, a naked man was running the other way.
And she knew immediately...

Jade had begun shaving her legs when her door was pushed inward...
A 6ft naked man with makeup on & ling hair pushed his way in & began trying to push his 🥒 at her. After she was able to dig at him with her razor, he backed off, she screamed & he ran.

Her mom arrived. After sobbing, she told what happened. The police were called.
They refused to put in the report that she was attacked by a ♂️. The shelter stated that if they say they're a woman, then they are & to say otherwise is disrespectful. The man had used a fake ID, name etc to gain entry. They still have not found him 13 months later.
The shelter still exists, is still letting in ♂️s. Still having high SA and violent encounters. I stopped volunteering for that shelter. I cannot legally tell their name as there are some people trying to sue & close them. I am currently not a witness. But...
....I was the one who had to take down Jade's assault. I'm a 3x r×pe survivor, & I will NEVER stop looking for that fukker nor supporting Jade.

It never happened.
The shelter has no record of the presence of a man.
If the incident had happened there would have been a police report and there isn't one.
If it did happen, the young woman at the heart of it misunderstood at best but is obviously a bigot.
What was that young woman doing looking at the nude figure of the person who entered the public space of a bathroom and subsequently sharing her misguided, bigoted views of that person who just wanted to shower.
In fact, journalists want to interview the person at the heart of this bigoted misinterpretation of this event because it's important to have their side of this story and explore the hate crime embedded in this.

Horrific poor Jade

I look forward to all our trans supporting posters who regularly turn up to berate us for being trans unfriendly to appear on this thread and give us their take on this. I jest I know they won't as they avoid things like this like the plague and throw tantrums whenever anything like this is referred to in other threads.

If it was that bad then it's some female person's fault somehow
and they deserved it

There will never be any admission of this being

an awful and unacceptable thing
something that must be prevented from happening again
that this requires shared responsibility from the TQ+ community that they care about female safety and will insist on policy that supports and prioritises it and this sort of thing does NOT happen in their name
and that this will involve boundaries and saying no to male people sometimes and male people respect this because they respect female people's rights and needs too.

I won't hold my breath. Until there is this reciprocal care, then no, no males in any female spaces or flat out lies that there is no male in the space. Even after they have assaulted a child and been seen running away as an obviously naked biological male. It's got really desperate now, and it's nothing more than frantic lying to avoid facing reality.

As per WiSpa, it may be interesting to follow through the 'it never happened' and then any follow-up revelations or confirmation that it did/n't happen, IYSWIM.

Talking of Wi-Spa, the first complainant was naïve enough to use her normal social media (instagram) and real face to report the events. She still got called a liar, a far right activist, and had all her prior social media history raked through.

So no-one with experience of the debate is going to make that mistake again.

Horrific to hear this. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me that it happens and that some organisations will continue to allow it.

I too look forward to the posts that come up with an excuse for it, or downplay it saying it never happens.

That poor girl's trauma will be made so SO much worse by the gaslighting misogynist system that not only knowingly facilitated it but then denied her the truth of naming what happened.

I am willing to bet "I was attacked by a naked man whilst I was vulnerable" is a phrase that for women UNIVERSALLY, across time, globe and cultures, means a hell of a lot different to "I was attacked by a naked woman when I was vulnerable".

This poor child is stuck with "You were attacked by a naked male in the showers but you're not allowed to say so, your reality and experience has to be hidden because the male matters more than you do"

Its repulsive. It's indefensible. Anyone who thinks this male matters more than this child and such attacks are 'worth it' has a serious issue between their ears.

Well, we know this never happens. It can't happen. So this must be untrue.

Thank fuck she was old enough to shave her legs, and thus had a means of self-defence on her. Imagine if she'd been a couple of years younger...

I’m sickened to read this. It’s so chilling that the crime wasn’t reported as being committed by a male. The poor girl is not only let down by the system that should support her; she’s being further abused, this time psychologically.
