In terms of conversion therapy and children, Transgender Trend have a very interesting article contrasting the evidenced, child centred factual approach of the interim report from the Cass Review contrasted with the political activist sloganeering from Stonewall (and others). It's long and well worth a read:

Extract
Stonewall places children within a wide umbrella group of sexual and gender identities, frames ‘legitimate’ treatment as that which supports children “to be themselves” and prioritises the protection of a medical transition pathway for children, falsely claiming that hormone treatments are “fully reversible.” Stonewall campaigns from this politicised position.
The basis of Stonewall’s political campaigning is not consistent with the facts and evidence in the Cass interim report:

Direct quotes from Cass:

2.18. The disagreement and polarisation is heightened when potentially irreversible treatments are given to children and young people, when the evidence base underlying the treatments is inconclusive, and when there is uncertainty about whether, for any particular child or young person, medical intervention is the best way of resolving gender-related distress.
3.32. A closely linked concern is the unknown impacts on development, maturation and cognition if a child or young person is not exposed to the physical, psychological, physiological, neurochemical and sexual changes that accompany adolescent hormone surges. It is known that adolescence is a period of significant changes in brain structure, function and connectivity

Around 2 seconds before I heard 'marginalised'

Oh, it's the sides of history again.

Away you go and get some new catchphrases.

Come back when anyone has a definition of what conversion therapy actually means in relation to transgender people.

'these practises' - what practises?!

Cripes, it's Jeremy Corbyn. Lily Madigan's pal.

Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:16

Holy wow. The rights of LGB people were only won by T people?! Where do they get these hot takes?

Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:19

Jackie Doyle-Price. Thank goodness.

Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:22

'no evidence of anything in a clinical setting post 1970'

  • JDP actually discussing evidence and practicalities. Cautioning the use of 'therapy' where the actual problem is religious practises.
Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:24

pathology of gender dysphoria, the spectrum of gender identity issues

This is far too much fact, JDP. Someone pulling her up for mentioning autism ...

Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:26

Nadia Whittingham (?) - puberty blockers are 'not irreversible'

Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:27

Soomeone says not aiming at banning NHS therapeutic practises, only pseudo therapies.

JDP emphasises the problem with the word 'therapies' and mentions the 'wild west' of internet medecine

Hagiography · 13/06/2022 17:33

Well, that's enough for me for a day. Astonishing how the less informed a politician is the louder and more heated they seem to be on the issues ...
