Oh dear Cosmopolitan Magazine. Where to start?

https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/love-sex/sex/a28405/10-lesbian-sex-tips/

https://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/a34553064/first-time-lesbian-sex/

It seems Cosmo's too tips are as follows:

Lesbians must always be considerate that some penis-havers identify as lesbians and must be included in anything and everything to do with lesbians, particularly lesbian sex.

If you’ve never had lesbian sex before watching lesbian porn shows a healthy depiction of lesbian relationships and doesn’t fetishise lesbians at all.

You don’t have a traditional female or male gender presentation? You should consider microdosing on permanent life-altering, experimental hormones. There is nothing irresponsible or flippant about this suggestion.

Is she Nigel Havers sister ?

As a heterosexual woman I have never thought ‘I want to have heterosexual sex’ as an abstract thought forgetting it involves someone who is also a real person like I am.

As a lesbian woman I've also never thought I'd like to try heterosexual sex as an abstract thought. It would seem very unfair on the man I was sleeping with.

Does Cosmo actually talk to real lesbians? Or is this more for experimenting 'mostly straight' women?

In the same breath they tell you to micro dose sex hormones to 'ease your dysphoria'. Like taking a parametemol. What planet is Cosmo on?

This is the one of the least empowering things I've read!

Is it satire?

Not quite sure why Cosmo is giving advice on how to have sex with girls and women. Sounds a bit illegal…

Straight men presenting as women and wanting to have sex with girls? That would never happen.

Agreed, although technically 16 and 17 year olds are girls. The other option is 'teenagers' which sounds worse!

No wonder people are dysphoric. Reading that as a straight woman I now wondering whether I am in fact a straight but homosexual man with a vagina who is lesbian at the weekends. I'm definitely not just a straight woman because that wouldn't be special.

Joystir59 · 09/06/2022 09:37

Having been a lesbian for long years that was too painful to read. Lesbians have great sex! Lots of orgasms! It's been the case for ages. Research shows that lesbians are more likely to reach orgasm during partnered sex than our straight sisters. This article is informed by deep homophobia and misogyny. Sad. Depressing.

Joystir59 · 09/06/2022 09:53

No biological male can be a lesbian. A male lesbian is an oxymoron

But that's old fashioned Lesbian research. I should imagine Modern Lesbians are just as likely/unlikely to reach an orgasm as their straight sisters, mainly because their modern lesbian partner has a dick.

I agree. When my straight friends talk about having sex with their long term partners and casually mention they don't always orgasm I think... how weird. I can't think of a time that regularly happens with lesbians.

Perhaps it's because the article is targeted at straight women having 'kinky' experimental lesbian sex which is a different matter.

Well indeed. The whole idea of ‘I want to have sex with [them]’ without realising this involves a real life person who should be as into it as you are is a bit of a red flag.

And without the "oxy", too...
