The Scottish Prison Service says it can totally tell the once trying to abuse trans rights from those that don't:

How do they determine who is really trans? Maybe they use a Sorting Hat?

DingDongDenny · 08/06/2022 10:17

In other words 11 male violent and sexual offenders, who claimed they were women, but have made no attempt to alter themselves through surgery or hormones, have been allowed into women's prisons

Oh my word.

One exchange - Maggie Chapman with the NRS head - he says he envisages checks and balances will stop any issues from develping, when she asks what those checks and balances will be he says he doesn't know.

(Paraphrasing, I look forward to a transcript).

Can they not hear themselves?

'Sure it'll be fine, someone will do something to stop any problems'
'who?'
'I thought you would'

They're talking about evidence and checks when the whole basis of self ID is to remove requirements for evidence and checks. Yeesh.

How's that going to stand up to a legal challenge? It's going to be a brave prison officer that decides someone isn't trans and wants to stand up in court and defend that decision.

Soul seeing, layla moran has been brought in to train them

MagnoliaTaint · 08/06/2022 10:42

Cell sharing?! Are they serious?

MagnoliaTaint · 08/06/2022 10:44

Thank you, Pam Gosal for mentioning the safety of women prisoners. I'm glad somebody is.

I should imagine, as soon as these men catch onto what’s happening, there will be some that get a precautionary GRC just in case they are convicted. As activists are so keen to tell us, it has no real effect on anyone’s day to day life. You don’t have to actually change anything, other than a few documents as “proof” and when you are put in prison, you can prove you’ve been legally female for five years. There are no downsides.

Basketet · 08/06/2022 20:47

A bit transphobic, innit? If a transwoman says they are a woman, who are we or the prison services to not believe them?

mumda · 28/01/2023 20:09

Scottish GRC means they can't.
