Father Ted needs you!

Some of you may know that the Father ted Musical is currently being held hostage by Hat Trick and Sonia Friedman Productions. They want me to remove myself from the show because of my legally-protected gender critical beliefs. I see today that our old producer on Father Ted, Lissa Evans, is running into the same problems in the equally-captured publishing industry.

I wonder if the women of Mumsnet might consider writing to Jimmy Mulville at Hat Trick and Sonia Friedman at SF Productions and telling them to stand up for their artists in the face of this bullying and intimidation. The Cass report is about to vindicate us all, the Allison Bailey trial revealed the homophobia at the heart of Stonewall, yet these companies are amplifying the abuse we face by pretending there is substance to it.

Please do write and tell them to #FreeFatherTed. And while you're at it, buy anything by Lissa Evans. She's a cracking writer.

Bloody hell, what’s happened to Jimmy Mulville since Who Dares Wins? If public opinion will sway him to back the show with the actual creator of the character on board then I’ll have a go at writing to him.

Agree about Lissa Evans. Old Baggage, Crooked Heart and V For Victory zip and sparkle with feminism and I was so pleased to see she is GC.

Could you explain exactly how you are supposed to remove yourself…does it mean from the script, the credits or what? Thanks for what you have done to support us gender critical vipers.

I have posted them on another thread on this topic, but am not sure if I was allowed to... if you google their names you can find a direct email address for Mulville on a CEO email address website, I could only find a generic one for Sonia Friedman.

Isn’t there a serious ethical and philosophical problem when producers are asking artists to disassociate themselves from their creative work, so they can go ahead and produce it, apparently untainted by… using the author’s name. How does any of that work? What the fuck sort of shitty magic do these producers actually think they’re actually making happen with this crap?

Why would ‘disassociating’ Glinner from the work he wrote, that he is forever associated with, make a jot of difference to people who have taken offence to the naming of the dangerous anti-women politics that Glinner has spoken up against? His work clearly isn’t for them. Just makes the producers look like craven, sexist idiots.

People who don't like Glinner’s work or his anti-sexist politics remains completely free to not go to see it. Everyone else who does, will. (I would love to!) I remember Lissa Evans’ byline from old radio 4 comedy shows and will look out for her stuff now.
