…and it will be BRILLIANT. Saturday 22- Monday 24 October 2022.

It’s a fabulous opportunity to meet, learn from and share with like-minded feminists. If you don’t know anyone when you go, don’t worry - you will by the end!

The website is www.filia.org.uk/ and here’s a video of previous highlights to give you an idea of what to expect. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEO6-HW6JdU&feature=youtu.be

FiLiA have sold nearly 900 tickets for the conference so there aren't many spaces left! Speaker announcements start next Friday. The ones I know about so far are seriously exciting.

I'm just waiting to hear where the venue is to decide whether I'm going to stay in a hotel or travel in each day...

@Worrysaboutalot - I did it on my own in a wheelchair with two children in 2018 (I think? manchester...). It was terrifying but we managed brilliantly 😁

On your own in a wheelchair with two children! Well, then I have no excuse!😀

I've got my ticket - AND my ticket for the Saturday night disco. This'll be my third FiLiA and I can't wait. As others have said - it's totally mind-blowing / life-affirming / moving /powerful / fun / eye-opening / heart-rending / profound.

And it might well change your life!

Around 900 tickets already sold, plus 100 or so speakers ... get in there before it's too late! www.filia.org.uk/

They’ve started announcing speakers! There’s going to be a session on Defending Women’s Sport with Fair Play for Women, Sharron Davies & Mara Yamauchi.

And if you’re wondering whether to come because of the possibility of protesters - yes, there were a bunch of misogynist pillocks with signs & chalks shouting outside our Portsmouth venue. But security is always a top priority, so don’t worry.

I'm so excited by the line up so far!
I swear the conference gets bigger and better every year!!

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 22/07/2022 13:26

Bump - there are still tickets left!

Do you know when we will be able to choose our workshops? I keep worrying that I might have missed an announcement!

Just asked, the answer was ‘Couple of weeks, hopefully!’

Is it always held on the same weekend each year? I want to make sure I can go next year!

Not exactly because it depends on when venues are free, but always near to October half term since mums have said that’s easier.

I am hopefully going. I live in Cardiff so looking forward to seeing so many like minded women here.

If anyone fancies meeting up, let me know. I'll be on my own there and at the party. I do have friends honestly 😁

QuimReaper · 25/07/2022 22:22

Damn, I can't make it again!

Are there any other regularly scheduled UK FWR conferences anyone can recommend?

Hi OP,

I've got a three-day ticket and wanted to ask when the conference starts and ends each day? It's likely we'll be travelling to Cardiff on the Saturday and travelling home on the Sunday (unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to make the Monday), and I wanted to get an idea of train times. Many thanks.

The conference opens at 8 on Saturday for registration & the first session’s at 9.30. Sunday sessions finish at 5.30.

I haven't missed the venue announcement, have I?

I'm crossing my fingers that it's on the bus route to central Cardiff from mine, so I can get in for free with my bus pass and don't need a hotel 😁

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 03/08/2022 18:52

Its not been released yet. But it’s VERY central!

I'm so glad it's Glasgow next year - I can't wait. I'm not sure about this year. Depends on school hols.

I'm really interested in coming to this because I live in Cardiff, I'll be 8 months pregnant and on my own though - I'll be okay right?!

I won't be pregnant but I'll be on my own too. I'm sure we'll be fine 😁 I think we should all have a theme though, like wearing something/having jewellery with vipers on it, so we can smile knowingly at each other when we pass.

Right! It’s so friendly & there will be loads of volunteers to give you help if you need it.

I can’t see what the rules are for concession tickets, might be being stupid though. Anyone know?
