The list of demands are quite something.

The petition itself claims "We are the majority at this University and in broader society" - with 530 signatories that seems an odd assertion.

Alyx/They said “I firmly believe everyone is entitled to their views”

but if they don’t agree with me they should not speak them out loud?

it’s confusing that white middle class males who have experienced white middle class male privilege through both childhood and adulthood state they are THE most vulnerable minority on labelling themselves women.

As an Edinburgh Alumnus, I hope this group of students continues to demonstrate that they are more trouble than they’re worth, and that the university treats them with the attention they truly deserve.

Glad to hear there may already be some shift in the reaction.

There's a difference between rights and privileges. When activists demand everything to be their way in the world they are then demanding extreme privileges. Those are going to come out of the rights of others.

I am also troubled by the new definition of 'safe' which appears to be interpreted as no debate, ever, but only on certain topics I presume? How do universities challenge the thinking of students if debates cannot be used and if nuance completely disappears? Most questions of the kind we discuss here have winners and losers for each solution, and if they cannot be discussed at all and if all debate must be stopped for reasons of this new 'safety', it's pretty obvious that this is a push for extreme privileges.
