New NHS Having a baby if you're LGBT+ page

Presumably for pride month the NHS have launched their Having a baby if you're LGBT+ page

www.nhs.uk/.../having-a-baby-if-you-are-lgbt-plus/

It contains some shocking claims, including chest feeding whilst binding, and links to La Leche League UK's page advising males they can breastfeed via the Newman-Goldfarb protocol.

'Surrogacy is when someone has a baby for people who cannot, or choose not to, get pregnant themselves.'

Someone? What sex would that person be I wonder? We pay tax to fund this nonsense.

Common sense as ever from Helen Joyce:
"LGBT+ is really not a sensible unit of analysis for baby-making. The advice will be completely different depending on whether you're male or female, and whether you're in a same- or opposite-sex relationship, & whether either of you has had gender surgery that's sterilised you."

'Sperm is put inside the person getting pregnant'.

'In IUI (intrauterine insemination) sperm is put in the womb of the person getting pregnant.'

'Find out more about co-parenting on the Stonewall website'.

😡

This more or less sums up me and my ex.

I came here from watching the spoof videos of Patrick Harvey. This is funnier. Reality beats comedy which is perhaps not hilarious.

And having a baby does tend to have something to do with biological sex. To erase it is to return us to some prehistoric era (might not have existed, even then) when people don't know how babies are made.

The thought of binding after birth when your milk comes in. I was so uncomfortable I couldn't wear a bra. And taking testosterone whilst feeding? Seriously? You're not even allowed lemsip when you're pregnant.

What a merry load of bullshit.

Musomama1 · 01/06/2022 21:13

What a load of nonsense. No mention of 'woman', even in surrogacy bit, that's demeaning. Chestfeeding?! At least there was no mention of 'front hole'.

Who is binding their boobs whilst breastfeeding? Because they can't suffer a moment to not be their 'true authentic selves'. Even postpartum. Utter silliness at this point, be proud of your amazing body.

The drug used in the Newman-Goldfarb protocol is banned in the US due to concerns over its safety, namely the unknown risks to babies exposed to it via bf:

”In several countries where the oral form of domperidone continues to be marketed, labels for the product contain specific warnings against use of domperidone by breastfeeding women and note that the drug is excreted in breast milk that could expose a breastfeeding infant to unknown risks. Because of the possibility of serious adverse effects, FDA recommends that breastfeeding women not use domperidone to increase milk production.”

And the NHS is recommending this?! I can’t even… 🤯
