Its the small wins!

At a museum we visit quite often with the children I mind and was asked to fill out a survey. They've changed the data collection bit because they had a complaint last year about only asking about how people identify. They now ask for your sex and then gender identity in a separate question!

It was me! I made the complaint. Asked for their formal complaints policy and everything!! A small thing which has made me so happy 😁

Its the small wins!

GladAllOver · 31/05/2022 09:50

Yes, well done.

HollowTalk · 31/05/2022 09:51

That's great!

Phobiaphobic · 31/05/2022 09:52

Bloody well done!

Artichokeleaves · 31/05/2022 09:52

Bravo!

Major win for females = being allowed to be recognised too and have equal freedom of language, identity, representation, lived experience, <insert word salad here>

Bloody tragic, isn't it?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2022 10:01

Well done!

UsernameNotAvailableHmm · 31/05/2022 10:43

So happy about this, well done OP

MagnoliaTaint · 31/05/2022 10:46

Well done, OP.

Redshoeblueshoe · 31/05/2022 10:59

well done

Cailin66 · 31/05/2022 11:09

Wow that's fantastic. I'm so ultra conscience of this mission creep of gender everywhere. The more of us complain the better. I do, and I point out there is no such thing as gender. Each of us can do this one small thing. Thank you for being that woman.

Maltloaf · 31/05/2022 13:09

You inspired me to speak to my son’s football team today about asking the under 7s to identity as a gender- the lady I spoke to didn’t really get it at first. But after a long chat about reaffirming stereotypes through gender identification we agreed they would ask for sec from now on. I wouldn’t have done this if it wasn’t for your post OP

Maltloaf · 31/05/2022 13:10

( however I did have cause to look at the FA policy and they mix up gender and sex throughout 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Johnnysgirl · 31/05/2022 13:12

👍

Boiledbeetle · 31/05/2022 13:18

Excellent. One small step and all that.

And it wouldn't have been difficult for them to do, and the form looks all neat and tidy whilst respecting everyone's feelings.

I'm sure someone will take issue with it mind!

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 31/05/2022 13:22

Yay for you!

Glenthebattleostrich · 31/05/2022 16:23

@Maltloaf it's so nice when someone gets it though isn't it.

@Artichokeleaves I know what you mean. On one hand it is depressing we are having to spend time on things like this but to have it noticed and acknowledged was nice! I even proudly announced I made the complaint and it did give me a chance to explain why a bit so hopefully that message will spread too. Should have said in my OP but I was a bit giddy with victory 🤣

It was only the second time I've actually directly complained about this kind of thing. The first time was to my old MP who called me a bigot (and lost my vote). In the last year I've become far more vocal and peaked several friends.

How far back in time would you have to go before you could show someone this in your crystal ball and they would shake their head in disbelief? It's seem like we have been wading through this shit forever.

Triotriotrio · 31/05/2022 18:31

Well done OP!! Can I share my small win?

I am collecting data for the NHS and successfully argued for them to collect sex at birth rather than the planned gender!!

We are doing it, one step at a time!!

Well done you! But isn't it shocking that the NHS doesn't see why biological sex could make a difference?? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I was shocked and received some strange comments from some of those responsible for it, but I managed to get across my points and they accepted them. Tbf it wasn't about a physical medical service, just collecting data about users of a service but it is important and I won.

Glenthebattleostrich · 31/05/2022 20:11

thats brilliant @Triotriotrio all our little gains put together are turning into big gains!

Well done op

AniseDanehill · 31/05/2022 22:23

It's great that you got them to change the form. I can't help wondering, though, why a museum would be collecting that data in the first place. Why is it relevant in that context?
