Gender ideology and NHS therapy

Being deliberately vague here but I work in the NHS in a role which is involved in supporting people with a wide range of difficulties. I’ve had various conversations with other colleagues recently who I respect and have been completely blind sighted by the vitriol that has been directed towards those with gender critical beliefs, essentially saying that people are ignorant and uninformed.
having read lots and lots about this issue, I fully support people to live and express themselves as they like however I share all of the concerns much more eloquently expressed on this board. I’m starting to feel quite hopeless and alienated though. I just don’t get how so many educated professionals can’t see the damage that’s being done. Feel so frustrated.

Just seen your other thread, I agree trans hate would be awful, you should report it if you see it.

Same OP. It's depressing. Our service recently sent out a patient satisfaction survey, which asked 'which gender do you most identity with'. I objected, politely, in the drafting stage and was shot down as this 'is Trust policy' ( which I can well believe, it's totally captured). One of the responses to that question was 'a total fucking genius mofo', which heartened me a bit.

“Total Fucking Genius MOFO. I’m going to make a note of that for next time myself.

I'm sorry, OP.

If it helps, everyone I know who works for the NHS (that is 3 people I know well enough to discuss) is either 'gender critical' or outraged by genderism. They would not, could not, say so, though. Or they'd risk their livelihood.

So - you're not the only one, just one of the quiet ones.

It is one of the aspects that worries me the most. A friend was coerced into having a very intimate procedure done by a tw with none of the normal safeguards you would normally expect. She hated every second and has now dropped out of treatment because that HCP is likely to be her main contact.

Genderargh · 25/05/2022 19:15

@RichardBarrister thats awful! Has she gone to PALS?

No, I’m not sure she feels that she can do anything about it.

Genderargh · 26/05/2022 21:50

@RichardBarrister if she does feel able to then PALS may be able to help. You are allowed to request another HCP for any reason - it can’t always be accommodated but certainly I’ve never seen anyone being denied a request for the same sex HCP!
