Oh so sad.

Has great respect for her, have always thought she's never put a foot wrong.

Here's the post. It uses 'women'.

This has "women" and her name on it.

Time for a namechange, I think! I love feminist Mumsnetters and all their information.

Hm ... I am looking through what I think is the post and it doesn't use the word 'womxn' at all. Has it been rmoved?

The post is the writing under the image. It clearly says 'women' as does the statement from Barack.
The graphic Michelle shared used womxn but she obviously didn't create the graphic. The organisation that created the graphic is tagged.

I’va always thought that attitude was daft.

Are we all humxns now?!

Man originally just meant homo saphien, from the Sanskrit manu (mankind) via the Old English wifman (a female human) and werman (a male human).

The use of man = a male person is relatively recent, and post-Norman invasion. I know buildings older than than 🤣

I always assumed it was more about the symbolism, a bit of a provocation - a reminder of how easy and dangerous it is to assume male = default, and to flag that this (group, place, conversation, paradigm) is a consciously feminist one.

(I think the same of "herstory", which I know also sometimes upsets linguists!)

Slothtoes · 18/05/2022 12:17

Really don’t want to lose another hero, I really like her. Hope that she meant women (or wimmin!)

FemaleAndLearning · 18/05/2022 12:51

I thought folx and womxn was by the TWAW brigade and womyn was used by feminists to avoid being 'of man'?

moomintrolls · 18/05/2022 13:09

What was it that garnered the great respect from you?
