Saw this today - www.independent.co.uk/voices/alabama-trangender-youth-roe-wade-b2076091.html
So much misinformation!! How can a supposedly "reputable" newspaper print this and not fact check it at all. I know it is an opinion piece but still.. I googled the author , just out of curiosity (he says in the article that he is the father of a trans child which explains a lot) and found that he is also Comms director for a very controversial organisation that has been accused of trying to normalise pedophilia . Ugh.

There is a broad consensus among medical professionals that trans youth benefit from gender-affirming care. .... Because of dysphoria, prejudice and stigma, 82% of trans people consider killing themselves, and as many as 40% have made suicide attempts.

The same stale old lies, the same lack of evidence to support these assertions ... Does anyone at the Independent read these opinion pieces? It seems to be going the same way as the Guardian -- clickbait rather than journalism.

The Independent is not a reputable newspaper. It's digital only, for a start - about as reputable as 'Vox' or 'Buzzfeed'.

Berlatzy works for 'Prostasia', an organisation working to remove the stigma from pedophilia:

Since 2016, I think. www.bbc.com/news/uk-35561145

I'm second guessing myself now, though - is there a paper copy of 'The I'?

Fenlandia · 11/05/2022 17:06

The i newspaper is different from the Independent. I buy it now and then and haven't seen much genderwoo in it. The Independent (online-only, unusable website) on the other hand is full of it

Musomama1 · 11/05/2022 19:28

I read an article in the i that referred to cisgender men and women, like queer theory is taken as read. I wasn't impressed, in fact it wound me up. Taken to buying the tabloids or the times.

Berlatsky is listed on the Prostasia site as an author together with the blog posts he’s written for them
