Had a brief convo with SNP candidate today...

...at a polling station which is also my place of work. Another member of staff was talking to them when I walked past and I stopped to listen. After some backwards and forwards talking she observed that I was "a trouble maker" because I offered a different opinion, but I hadn't even asked her what a woman was yet!

I left briefly to finish a task but came back and asked her the question. She wasn't pleased then a young colleague who had overhead came and joined saying how disturbed she was that she and her young DDs were going to be growing up in a country which did not seem to respect women's need for safe single sex spaces. Then yet another colleague popped their head round their office door and echoed that comment. It was interesting. The candidate left.

Since NS has now come out publically and stated categorically that she is 100% continuing to push self-id because "blah blah most victimised minority blah blah" everyone I have mentioned to about it is not happy about the clear dangers to women, children and safeguarding and are frankly baffled and confused as to why the SNP is so obssessed with this bizarre ideology. I want to thank NS for her stance and for stating it publically and clearly for all to see and hear. I anticipate mass peaking...

I meant to say at the end "want to thank NS for publically stating her stance so clearly for all to see and hear. I anticipate mass peaking...

I just couldn’t be bothered to vote today. First time ever. Needed to go into town twice and walk the dog three times and the idea of heading out again when really I don’t feel represented by any of them isn’t something I want to do.

Cismyfatarse · 05/05/2022 21:51

I didn't vote. Quite frankly couldn't see how any of them are worth the time and effort.

SNP the kings of gender bollocks.

The party of Alex the loon Cole-Hamilton?

Douglas jumping from one side of the fence to the other Murray?

I might have voted Labour for Sarwar but he is as bad as the rest and is the party of "don't mention the cervix" and women are dinosaurs.

The whole bloody lot of them need to wake up.

I could vote Alba, except Salmond; and I am passionately opposed to independence.

I have no printable words for the Greens.

When I voted today the place was deserted just me and 4 members of staff😂not even a single SNP candidate (normally they seem to congregate here) so got talking to the staff voter numbers are really down and the SNP lot went home because everyone coming in was asking them about women vs trans rights or ferry's and missing documents

My candidate believes in single sex spaces but he also thinks males who identify as women are female😕and should have access to these spaces. We agreed to disagree mostly because he got fed up with me ranting about mixed rape crisis counselling, female prisoners forced to share showers etc. with male prisoners.

I didn't vote for any of them, I voted for local candidates who will be running our local council.

Incidentally there were eight wards in Scotland where there was no vote (or no point to it) as the same number or fewer candidates than seats.

Dorothea3 · 05/05/2022 23:30

I couldn't bring myself to vote for any of the parties, so voted independent only.

I spoke to my elderly aunt recently and she couldn't believe or understand what was going on. She did get that it was happening, but was in real shock about it. She said she'd be voting but definitely not Green or SNP because of the trans issue.

And she is maybe unusual in that she has quite a few MtF trans people in her community who she has zero problem with (ie not activists and just get on with their lives from her point of view) and is very environmentally friendly. So she'd probably be someone who would be expected to vote Green.

Even DH didn’t vote yesterday. Had been busy and felt too tired to go out. I never thought I’d see the day.

Cazziebo · 06/05/2022 09:32

My polling station was quiet and the staff said it had been like that all day. First time I've ever spoilt my ballot paper.
