I don't know what to title this

It's so difficult to try to remain balanced in these discussions but honestly.... Why do certain minorities constantly need to centre themselves. How many non binary people does abortion even affect? Must be tiny.

I don't know what to title this

Just saw this. Honestly I had to stop myself from crying. I’m so fucking angry about what is happening in America. Then I saw this and I thought ‘how dare you!’. This is not about trans or NB. This is about women.

This. I felt the same.
I can't stand all the NB nonsense. I really do not care if you actually do not feel like a woman - if you have a uterus, you are one.

DuesToTheDirt · 05/05/2022 23:15

A friend made a fb post about the potential Roe vs Wade reversal... one of the comments on it was something like, "Yes, this is why we need trans rights." WTF. Confused

It’s almost as if there’s a group of people who have something specific in common, and it would be useful to have a name for that group of people, a name that distinguishes them from other people who don’t share that common trait.

(Particularly when the latter group of people has form for not treating the former group of people as well as could be desired, and when the rights of the former group of people are fundamentally under attack.)

I think it would be so useful to have some nice clear language with which to talk about these phenomena in an easily comprehensible way, so that everyone who was interested could access the conversation.

But hey, what do I know - I’m just an old dinosaur with far too many rights as it is. Apparently.

It's just bizarre

“Language is confusing and upsetting “ 😂 oh dear…how do some people function in the outside world with work, normal interactions with people etc?

FrancescaContini · 06/05/2022 00:21

Sorry @doadeer I’m referring to the hilarious little screenshot you’ve attached.

Yea indeed, if only we dinosaurs had thought to hoard abortion rights instead!

Why, it’s almost as if rights can’t be “hoarded” at all, but just depend on whether some men decide if we can have them or not. (Whoever “we” are. I mean, since you can’t tell without being a doctor or a biologist whether someone might in fact have a uterus, why should we behave as though anyone even has one in the first place?)

MoiraQueen · 06/05/2022 00:32

Women and girls will die if safe access to abortion is removed, I really wanted to reply to some of these disgustingly self centred posts with grow the fuck up.

But it's also another piece of evidence I have for my theory that the average political beliefs within the transgender community (other than about their own identities) are actually right of center.

I do recall one US survey a couple of years ago testing that proposition, and it agreed with that. Quizzed on a bunch of issues, transgender respondents were more conservative than the general population.

Anyone got a reference to that?

I found this reference

I'm not surprised given their attitude on femininity. They have a very conservative attitude on what makes a woman a woman (excluding biology, that is a free for all in their minds).

It's such a tiny number of people!

Yes dear, of course you're not a woman. Silly doctors. 💁🏼

Haven't RTFT but Neurodivergent Rebel is reviled by as many in the autism community that revere *neopronoun for extreme and absolutist views on all sorts of things. It's usually best just to roll your eyes and laugh when you have the misfortune to encounter NDR.

Do you think these women can just say they aren't assigned female at birth?

I wonder how many MTF transgender people there are in societies where women are oppressed, or even "just" more traditionally treated. ie in societies where hunter-gathering is still the norm.
Has this ever been looked at?
