Dear wonderful women,

Just a final reminder that we are having an excellent WPUK event in Bristol on May 3rd at 7pm. This is an event in partnership with fellow feminist organisation With Woman, and we are focusing on the topics of: feminism, birth and motherhood. The amazing speakers will be Victoria Smith, Mara Ricoy, Marianne Hester and Milli Hill and I will be chairing the event.

It has been a long time since our first Bristol event in Feb 2018, and I feel like this will be a celebration of how far we have come. Still a long way to go campaigning for sex-based rights!! But we are making strides and growing so much along the way, that it will be really nice to see each other, enjoy a powerful event and catch up afterwards. I have a feeling many women will want to give me a hug so I'm ready to be hugging everyone left and right, but please know that I am doing alright. Always grateful for all the kindness and solidarity.

Not sure if Mumsnet lets me post it here, but the description of the event on Eventbrite is the following: "Midwife means 'with woman' and woman-centred care is still not guaranteed. In the midst of the current maternity crisis, how do we centre the needs and experiences of women? Our speakers explore the themes of birth and motherhood, obstetric violence as violence against women, mothers' experience of domestic violence and the importance of sex-based language and feminist analysis."

Hope you can make it. Please spread the word to get the last tickets. We'll get the videos up for those who can't be there and we'll have a great security team with us during the night to cover all our bases. There might be a really cool party afterwards too! ;)

FatFucker

There was probably only about a dozen protesters at the end. Young, naive wee girls. Who will look back in horror at themselves. Banging on about non-binary rights!

I agree, many of the young women supporting this will look back and cringe at their naivety. I would love to speak to them in about 10 years and see whether they still claim non-binary status (whatever the hell that means) when it's no longer trendy, or if they still welcome men in their spaces. Something tells me maybe not.

I suppose that's the thing really, you can't teach someone life experience, they will have to go through the painful realisation of the lies they have been sold.
If it wasn't so fucking depressing it would be funny.
